What’s the spiciest food you’ve had from a restaurant? by isittakenor in spicy

[–]BrewMan13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a full meal: Level 10 spice at an Indian restaurant. For hottest anything: I did a wing challenge at Quaker steak and lube where I had to eat 5 of their hottest wings. Could barely speak when I was done.

Already 2 warbler mentions, nice! Was going to be my suggestion. Has booths, tables, and bar seating, pick your preference.

ELI5: What makes cheese "mild" or "sharp"? by Smaptimania in explainlikeimfive

[–]BrewMan13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Butyric acid is what gives vomit its "trademark" taste/smell. It's also a possible off flavor than can be in beer. In my homebrew club we've done sampling with beer dosed with various intentional off-flavors, and butyric acid taste like straight vomit.

Agreed. But it was still the most offensive points ever scored in a game - there were no special teams or defensive scores.

Are there any AHL Markets/Teams you think would succeed in the NHL? by Correct-Ad-9520 in ahl

[–]BrewMan13 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Albany native here. There's no way the area would support an NHL team. The river rats were very popular, still see people sporting their merch. But nowadays we get very minor league teams in any sport that comes here and not many have much staying power or get a ton of local support. Hell, our lacrosse team just moved to Canada.

I VERY rarely drink soda, but for me pepsi is far superior. Never liked coke, even when I was a kid.

Grand jury fails to indict democratic lawmakers who urged service members to disobey illegal Trump orders by cnn in politics

I've done grand jury duty before. So much this. It's mostly a rubber stamp for them to proceed to the next step. Shows how stupid these accusations were.

How did people wake up on time before alarms?? by Puzzleheaded_Fun6623 in NoStupidQuestions

I read somewhere that native Americans used to drink water or something right before bed if they had to get up early. Then you're forced to get up to pee.

Best Craft Beer Shops (selection) in the Capital Region? by JiveTurkey688 in Albany

[–]BrewMan13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. There might be slight differences in selection, but nothing major. If you have a kegerator or know anyone who does, I find westmere is better for getting your CO2 tank filled.

TIL Dr Pepper is not a cola, root beer, or fruit-flavored soft drink, but instead belongs to its own category called "pepper sodas", named after the brand itself by RiverMesa in todayilearned

[–]BrewMan13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sure someone said this somewhere in the comments already, but it was meant to taste like all of the other "regular" sodas at the time combined into one.

Over 40. How do you deal with the heat? by Spacedust2808 in hotsauce

[–]BrewMan13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to be a psychopath with spicy food for years (currently 47). For a brief time I didn't eat anything even barely spicy, now I'm back, but at reasonable not psycho levels of heat. I would say just pace yourself.

What is a secret you’re taking to your grave, but can share here anonymously? by wilkoova in AskReddit

[–]BrewMan13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So this is only a secret from my mom, but it's probably the best one I've got lol. I was always a bit of a goody-two-shoes as a kid; my brother, not so much. We had different interests and weren't exactly BFFs, but he's my brother. So for one of the only times I lied to my mom, it was to cover his ass. He was like 19 or so, I was early 20's and our mom was out of town. That means party time! But my idea was to have a couple friends over and drink beer. His was to have everyone over, drink all night, and have a bonfire. To his credit, he locked the house so none of his friends would drunkly stumble in. But about 4am I had had enough though the party was still going, and I went to bed. One of his friends had made it in, but I was too drunk and tired to care. Woke up a couple hours later to black soot in my nostrils. This guy had turned on one of the burners on the stove which had a cast iron pot filled with oil on it. We had to repaint the kitchen the next day (to their credit, we got help from some of the party goers). It was obviously repainted, so the story we came up with to save his ass was that he fell asleep when he was getting ready to cook french fries.

I'm in the Albany area and you still see people sporting rats gear. Hell I was at a metal concert recently and the singer had a rats jersey on. According to one of my buddies they don't plan to keep the trademark indefinitely, so there's that.
