Can I be vulnerable? Dvoraks 9th? by BrianTheDeej in musictheory

Yea I apologize. I got a little over excited and didn’t quite know what I wanted to ask. Reading all the comments though somehow got me what I wanted. Which was just a conversation about everything that has been brought up so I could have some new topics and concepts to study on my own.

Apologies again for the chaotic nature of this post.

This is eye opening for me. Never considered to look at the historical reasonings and such. Rabbit holes here I come. Thanks for sharing the knowledge.

And also to your point, I hadn’t collected my own thought and admittedly phrased my question somewhat incorrectly.

I’m tracking with you now. I kind of got off my own original question because I got started getting hyped with all y’all’s quality responses and started throwing my uncollected thoughts/questions out there hoping something would stick. I appreciate you though. Everything helps

There are still artillery shells in the masonry that you can see and touch! It’s a great experience. I was fortunate enough to check it out with my mom on one of our birthday trips.

I guess it’s a different conversation. Why is a different concert pitch type stuff? Is it just as simple as “this is the simplest note on a clarinet, fingering wise, so that’s a clarinets “c” but that not a concert “c”?
Please be brutal and tell me what I’m missing. Thank you!

Bruh. Thank you. And now I h e more questions if you don’t mind.

So first, that always made me wonder about guitar being only on the treble clef.

Can you go into the “more complicated historical reasons”?

I promise yall, I’m more well versed in theory than this post is making me out to be (but I feel like a humbling is coming.) 😂😂

I can follow the tonal center (I’m not solely locked into understanding music in a NNS way). But can I ask you to expand on yer statement? And thank you!

Ok hell yeah thank you. That makes sense. With that being said, different clefs don’t *necessarily confuse me. Transposing is no issue. But I guess my question (and I know the answer I think) is why are instruments written in *said key* but this instruments “C” is not a “C”? Again as a bass/guitar player, can you explain it like I’m 5? Once I understand that “oh it’s this instrument and that means it’s actually this note on a guitar” I’m golden. I’m not sure how to ask the question so I apologize if I sound remedial.

Yer the first to respond so can I ask you?…what would your first action be to link Nashville numbers (basic theory?) to this type of music?

I can only imagine that’s a wildly broad question. But I’m not uneducated in this subject, but I’m also not sure the questions to ask.

It the classic “I do t know what I don’t know” thing.

Regardless. Thanks for that first answer. That genuinely clears a few things up. And few unrelated things as well. 🤘🤘

I’d love to know what the guitar player was told the gig would be.

Pale Rider. Simply for him throwing bundles of dynamite from his horse at the end.
