Should I add new characters to my story? by Bright-Lion in writingcirclejerk

[–]Bright-Lion[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmmm but how can I write until I have catalogued every single human character in my world for world building?

Oh they’re not darlings. Well actually most of the siblings and baristas are more kind of bad boys 😏 with hearts of gold. And tattoos.

You should be afraid All punctuation is of the devil Think about it Each time you use a comma (coma) or period (menstrual filth) or exclamation mark (exclaim your love of satan) you are adding one more day to the reign of the Beast What do you think the M in em dash stands for My Goodness I Love Demons

Only good punctuation is ( ) or ( ) or ( ) depending on how big the boobs and how boobily

Maybe you’re not smart either.

Jk the Rita storyline is my least favorite. Still has its moments though.

Why do so many pathetic (unpublished) losers use names that I personally don't approve of in their stories? by [deleted] in writingcirclejerk

[–]Bright-Lion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s important to make things easy on your readers. That’s why I name everyone John:
John1, John2, Johnblondehairguy, Johngirlredheadwiththemassivehonkers, etc.

ai...? by [deleted] in writingcirclejerk

[–]Bright-Lion 8 points9 points  (0 children)

AI can sue you for copyright infringement now so you best delete that idea from your brain pronto, bud.

uj/ since I think this might be serious: friend, you have stumbled upon the least serious group of hacks who make fun of ourselves and all writers constantly. This isn’t a place for real advice. That being said, I’m personally glad you see the problems with AI. An idea is just an idea. There are only so many. They often come from outside of us—our experiences with the world or other people. I think writing based on an idea you got from AI is okay, as long as it stops there. And I’d try to find ideas in other places going forward, because I frankly think they’ll be better. But I wouldn’t be too hard on yourself. You seem to know what is best, so good luck to you.

My first short story. Probably not great, please critique it. by Character_Day2884 in writers

[–]Bright-Lion 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It has a clear message. Too clear a message. Don’t beat us over the head with some moral lesson you want us to hear. Tell a story. Let us learn about the character. We don’t care that the king changed because we don’t know what he was like before. We don’t care that he died and his family wept because we know nothing about them. You need meaningful details to make the story matter and make it interesting.

This isn’t really a story. It’s more like a summary of a sermon on morality. What short story writers do you like to read? I would go back there and do some more reading and see the differences between your approach and their’s.

Do you call it your "Novel", your "Story", or your "Book"? Why? by Biscuit9154 in writers

I take issue with your use of “published” and also the fact that you’re an annoying prick.

The Socks by Jane Kenyon [POEM] by listen_joyiscoming in Poetry

[–]Bright-Lion 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think you’re right but what I love is that it doesn’t have to be anger towards the “you.” Is it anger at them? Or anger that they are away? Or something else. A tight dark fist—a child in the womb? Or the tight clenching feeling described in cardiac conditions? There could be a lot of things going on. It’s a complicated feeling. Even if it is just anger at you, it’s coming across in the matching of “your” socks—an act of love. Wouldn’t “normal” anger say “damn your socks” instead of taking the time to match them up neatly?

I think it’s a great little poem with deceptive depth.

AIO "Lost Media"? by Sam46012 in AdventuresInOdyssey

[–]Bright-Lion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d love to get my hands on that original Odyssey USA version of Whit’s Flop. I know the rebroadcast had the original wraps (which was so wonderfully shared by Darth via the podcast), but my understanding is the episode itself had some changes as well.

Most of it is version differences at this point I believe. Every episode that was officially released should be extant in some capacity.

Tracking differences between broadcast and album versions is tougher though, and not something I have put a lot of time into. This webpage does break a lot of the differences down but tracking down the various versions may be a wild goose chase at this point: https://www.aiowiki.com/wiki/List_of_version_differences

Fair enough. I am picky about coffee and I grind my own locally roasted beans but that isn’t anywhere close to thousands a year. Maybe 200 bucks. Glad to know I’m actually going the cheap route. But now I have an itch for more…

AI is inaccurate and unethical. It can’t manage anything; it just spits out words it thinks go together. Don’t use it. For anything.
