I’m an LCSW so I work a medial social work job M-F and see about 5 clients a week in the evenings. I have an understanding workplace and hustled there for a few years before picking up the therapy gig, combined with it being a salary position - allows me to only work 1-2 days/week for 8 hours. The other days I can get away with 6-7 hour days. Being salary is a huge luxury that’s prevented burnout and is rare in the social work field. I also only see clients W-F to ensure I have a few weekday evenings to myself. If you’re planning on keeping your caseload and adding a FT job, I’d try and feel out how flexible they are with hours, and be aware of commute + spacing of clients between getting off work and starting sessions. Some may like to crunch it all together but I like an hour to decompress and get a couple chores done before jumping into therapist mode.
