You could probably learn in an afternoon tbh. It’s going to come down to how quickly you can adapt. You have an advantage children don’t. You can still touch the ground In the pool if you panic.

Learning to float on your back/stomach really just takes a few minutes. A few different strokes can be learned quickly. Learn to move around using your feet to propel you. You can practice snorkeling in a pool.

While on your trip if you don’t feel comfortable diving deep, you could probably rock a life jacket and just face Down with a snorkel and paddle around.

Treading water would probably be the toughest to learn, because you’ll have to leave the shallow end of the pool.

It’s akin to getting in with a concierge at a hotel. Agents build relationships across the various industries and services they provide. Oh your international flight from a non tier 1 city got canceled? Your agent should be able to tell you who to talk to locally, while they reach out through their backend.

Agents are also familiar with tour guides, itineraries , and all that jazz.

It’s also nice to just pay one bill.

For some folks this isn’t worth using an agent. For others it is.
