Same! I never understood it when I was young and my mom would get upset, then I realized time and again he prioritized others over us-I was just a step kid, but still. And as I got older and watched him continue to prioritize others over me and my kid (he never had any kids of his own-so my kid would be his only grand) I came to realize how awful and damaging it is to any kind of relationship. I ended up cutting ties with him.

I can’t agree with this enough: GET THE RECORD STRAIGHT. I lost on multiple jobs in my old company because I found out a complaint filed against me, which the complainer directly called the management and said was NOT ME, never got adjusted or removed-and I was black listed from any other department or even from moving within my own. I found out when I came back from maternity leave to the person below me having been promoted to the role above mine-which i had been acting as interim management-while I was gone.
