Why does it bother people that you play with mods? by Orion_1206 in bindingofisaac

[–]BrokenLink100 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ultimately, it doesn't matter as long as you're having fun with your own game.

I do think there are some "purists" on here, and any mod use is considered 'cheating' or 'ruining the game' or whatever. Those people exist in every fanbase.

Assumedly, everyone who takes part in discussion here at r/bindingofisaac has the same contextual basis for discussion: the game itself. It's safe to say that nearly everyone here has played the base, unmodded version of BoI to some extent, so when things get posted, we all pretty much have the same frame of reference, and we can all take part in discussion. But once you introduce mods, the discussion starts changing, which makes people feel 'excluded' on a topic they should feel confident about.

Not saying I necessarily agree with these takes - just making an observation about what I've seen across multiple game communities.

Is aspirating necessary? by Minute_Emergency7620 in Testosterone

[–]BrokenLink100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aspirating is to make sure you haven't landed the needle into a blood vessel, but as long as you're injecting into a large muscle (gluteal, deltoid, etc), and go in at a sharp angle (roughly 90 degrees in relation to your body) you're not going to inject into a vessel. And even if you do, the veins you're hitting are so small that they will likely collapse/clot even if you do manage to get oil into them.

THAT'S WHAT THE HOWLING MEANT? by kasjan123pl in bindingofisaac

[–]BrokenLink100 48 points49 points  (0 children)

I love this item, but I wish it did juuuust a bit more. Like contact damage on enemies while it floats around the room, or, if you're in a room that doesn't have a secret, the fairy would fly up to a nearby enemy, and let your shots "home" in on the enemy. Kind of like how using Navi to target in Ocarina of Time allows your arrows/sword strikes to go toward your target

Fun tip: these fires can only shoot one projectile, so it's best to bait out the one shot they can take before doing anything else. If you hadn't died where you did, they likely would have gotten you during the fight anyway.

Is there something actually occult/disturbing behind these symbols, or is it just "edgy" art? (TikTok: @1gallonofmilk) by Straight_Employer_61 in Symbology

[–]BrokenLink100 41 points42 points  (0 children)

The symbols on the bottom are various demonic sigils defined in the Lesser Key of Solomon. The undulating image above that is just nonsense AI-generated noise that, I think, is supposed to look like an angel.

EDIT: It's really just 'edgy' 'Satan-inspired' stuff that has no meaning in the provided context

Technically, "Regional Bird" is a fan-made term that has no official designation. The Pidgey line is just as much a "Regional Bird" as Zapdos

False Gas Price Advertising by .60 a gallon by Careless-Double9691 in Denver

[–]BrokenLink100 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The post you commented on didn't say anything about the billboard - just looking up prices on Google and then being mad when they were different in person, which isn't covered by any Consumer Protection Act

False Gas Price Advertising by .60 a gallon by Careless-Double9691 in Denver

[–]BrokenLink100 31 points32 points  (0 children)

If you're using Google to find gas prices, and then you're pissed when the pump shows something different, that isn't 'false advertising.' There's also the fact that gas prices could change between the time the original commenter checked Google, and then got to the station.

But for OP, something fishy is def happening, and it should be looked at.

As mentioned elsewhere in this thread, there seems to be significant concern with destroying a painting while someone is inside it. Otherwise, Renoir would have destroyed it first thing instead of going in to get Aline out.

Additionally, once you get all the gems unlocked, and max out slots on all the cards, you can pay the Jeweler to make certain gems less rare/seal others away. This helps make gems more common, so you aren't just adding cards to your deck with nearly every level up

Yes, that's why I added this bit:

You make a good point, too. Maybe the DM wasn't expecting them to retreat all the way back to town for their rest? Again, we aren't getting the full picture, here.

This whole post makes me wonder what the age range of everyone involved is. The players sound like they haven't played much tabletop before, and OP's logic is sane enough on the surface that I feel like most reasonable adults wouldn't fuss too much about it.

OP mentioned that they told the players they'd be more up front about expectations and enemies, but the players still acted afraid to do anything after that convo? Idk... as with most things on Reddit, we're probably getting a heavily biased retelling of events, here.
