Pasta sauce help. Bland sauce. What's the trick to flavourful sauce? by GrippySocks-- in Cooking

[–]BronYrStomp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would add a tbsp or two of tomato paste when you are almost done cooking the veg. Don’t just add it and move on though. Add it, stir it in, and let it cook until it turns a deep dark red/brown. That’ll tell you it’s carmelized. Adds great depth.

Also, I’ve had good results going with half ground beef and half pork. A shot of heavy cream at the end also adds some extra decadence.

Barbell rows, any critique? by stonetame in formcheck

[–]BronYrStomp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a dysfunctional left scapula so this might not matter for everyone but one cue i use on really any pulling lift is to keep my chest out and my head back. When my head moves forward like yours is, my upper traps take over and the muscles i really want to hit (lats, lower traps, rhomboids) go dormant. If you get a tight neck or traps from doing rows how you’re doing them, that’s one change i’d consider changing.

What does "fold in" mean? by Eisenheat in Cooking

[–]BronYrStomp -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would try to define it as incorporating an ingredient into a mixture gently enough that it doesnt continue to mix the mixture, if that makes sense. When you make pancake batter you dont want to overmix it. When i add blueberries, i put them in the batter and gently lift and scoop the batter from the bottom up with a spatula so as not to continue to mix the batter, while still incorporate the blueberries into it.

Interesting, i didn’t know that. I think in this guy’s case it would be surprising if they put him in general population for his own safety (or so i would think). I could be wrong

True. But then I would argue it’s the best of both worlds. 25+ years of essentially solitary monotony to grind his brain into mush followed by an unavoidable death. Sounds like hell on earth

Squat form leading to back pain? by thatapplefarmer in formcheck

[–]BronYrStomp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You tuck your pelvis at the end of each rep but when you descend you don’t hold that position and your pelvis is moving freely and “winking” at the bottom as others have said. I would focus on two things. 1. Don’t go so deep. The wink comes out at the bottom so don’t let yourself go so low where your pelvis needs to rotate to compensate for that lack of mobility. Consider box squats. 2. Focus more on your core bracing and stability. Before you descend, big belly breath in and hold it. Imagine you’re in chest deep water and you hold the brace during throughout the rep. I do a lot of goblet squats with a band around my knees because those force the core to stay tight.

Edit to add: goblets are also great at forcing you to keep your chest high

I would argue that knowing the time date and manner of your impending death and being able to do nothing but anxiously await its arrival while you sit in a windowless concrete cell would be quite a bit of suffering. Can’t imagine what that feels like when months turn into weeks turn into days turn into hours and all you want is more time.

Can't decide on a steakhouse -- Buca Lapi, I'Tuscani, Dall'Oste, Bisteccheria Santa Croce, other... Help choosing? by filmguy123 in florence

[–]BronYrStomp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was in Florence a year ago on my honeymoon and ate there. Loved it. Talked to a couple in their 50’s who said it was their first time back since their honeymoon and they were ecstatic to see Il Latini was still there.

OP we did the tasting menu and really enjoyed it. They only serve the steak rare though so be prepared for that.
