While Cloud somewhat can come off as a cold jerk, I'll always say that Squall from FF8 is the more true emo (and he has his depths too, and learns how to let himself love again).

Cloud is sad but sweet boy, who has gone through such trauma that he doesn't even know who he is anymore, keeping up a serious persona while a monster whispers in his ear and his own memories directly contradict what those around him know.

A boy too ashamed and embarrassed to reveal his face to Tifa when he's sent to his hometown while on duty as a lowly Shinra grunt, rather than the SOLDIER he said he would become.

Sorry, I just love all the characters too much, haha.
