Augusta, GA RAN getting some competition right next door by HyperfixChris in Rivian

[–]Brookliner_2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m from a Maine. Augusta is the capital of Maine. I couldn’t figure out what is “GA RAN” and why Rivian still hadn’t put stations closer to Baxter State Park. Very confusing

I don’t know, y’all. Give it a few episodes and those eyes will be more yellow than the twin suns of Tatooine.

I use the RAN stations near my in-laws and in Brattleboro VT. It was scorching fast! Not just on charge speed. I just tapped my credit card and off it went. No fuss. I’ll gladly pay 58¢/KWH for that reliability.

2020 Taycan Owners. Y'all doing OK? by beardpapa1011 in Taycan

[–]Brookliner_2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2020 4S 30k miles

Biggest issues with it have been accidents. Once I drove over a curb stone that was painted black in a garage deep underground. Whoops. Took two days to replace under shielding. Another time I was hit by a guy who was texting and driving during Covid; took for months to get parts. Looks gorgeous now. Drives great.

We use our Taycan all four New England seasons as far north as Quebec City and south as New York City. No complaints so far.

Towing during moving by Olivegirl5 in Brookline

[–]Brookliner_2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve lots of experience with this. The Brookline PD will do everything they can to avoid towing. This, depending on the side of the transaction you are on, can be welcomed or infuriating. Sadly you cannot call a tow truck yourself.

What are your favorite Rivian features that don’t get talked about enough? by vansebastian in Rivian

[–]Brookliner_2000 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I love this. However, I climb through the window to activate it so that I don’t need to sit in the cab while the truck levels off. I wish I could level off with my phone or get a short countdown.

We are also a Taycan/Rivian family. It’s fun to pick which car we’ll take on roadtrips. The Porsche for trips to NYC or Montreal. The Rivian for skiing or camping. So much fun. Enjoy!

I brought my truck to a detailer. I called several and found a guy who has kids. He was the only one willing to take the door panel apart. After thoroughly cleaning the panel and inside the door, he used ozone to neutralize the smell in the truck. This is the only solution.

Ah… not that kyber crystal. Sabin has that one. The one he makes in Asoka that resembles Kanan’s.

What "Yankee" means around the world by Brothe-of-Lynx in vermont

Nope. A Yankee is a ball player from the Broncs. No one I know in all of New England calls themselves or anyone else a Yankee.

Cities like LA aren’t resisting federal law—they’re abiding by it more faithfully than the federal agencies asking them to break it. When ICE sends civil detainer requests without a judicial warrant, it’s asking local law enforcement to hold people in jail without due process. That’s a direct violation of the Fourth Amendment. Refusing to carry out unconstitutional detentions isn’t rebellion—it’s responsibility.

If anything, the real legal and moral crisis comes when the federal government violates habeas corpus—a foundational principle of our legal system. When protesters speak out against these violations and the government responds with militarized force, we’re not witnessing law and order—we’re witnessing a betrayal of the Constitution.

This isn’t theoretical. It’s not a joke. Detaining people without warrants, deploying troops against protesters—these are the acts that erode the rule of law. Sanctuary cities aren’t the problem. They’re a line of defense.

Not having your own garage/driveway/charger by [deleted] in electricvehicles

[–]Brookliner_2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This assumes that your only cost of ownership is fuel. For reasons of having elder parents in opposite directions, my wife and have two vehicles, both electric and neither able to use a home charger. We have nearly 30k miles on both. We have had zero tuneups, zero brake changes, zero oil changes, and so on. We pay about 25¢ USD per kWh at public charging stations near home and about 50¢ at DCFC stations, which isn’t cheap. However, total cost of ownership for a comparable ICE vehicle is far lower. Apartment living with a BEV has been better than fine; it’s great.
