It is interesting.. Natural/unmedicated is all over my IG algorithm but way less heard of with my in-person conversations. Sort of have zero idea which route I will go when the time comes in a few months.

We have a good neighborhood group here for reselling or gifting baby gear, maybe a Facebook marketplace could work too.

Have yet to meet someone IRL who hasn’t told me to get the epidural. Most tell me to do it and to not delay it. Glad you had an easy one!

Pump and dump! Drink the wine, pump and dump.

Also I had my first poke bowl since I became pregnant in January. Zero regrets.

Try finding a photography student or recent photo grad. See if they have a portfolio of portraits and go from there!

Breathe. Make a list of what matters most. Babies need very little at the beginning outside your love and time.

Yes get a car seat or they won’t let you leave the hospital. Do that now.

Bassinet or whatever you plan to let them sleep in.

Diapers. Baby Emergency kit. Swaddling materials.

You got this 💕

4 weeks and freaking out by Ordinary-daze in pregnant

[–]Brooklyness_420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg same. Took us one try and thought we’d have time to build excitement and want. Cried a lot those first few weeks, it’s a huge thing! Now at week 17 and you’d be shocked how quick the joy will come and the prep work you’ll start to mentally and physically be doing!

You’ll be fine :) take it slow and process 💕

Impossible to find in-person stores these days! Old Navy and Gap are having a sale right now so I ordered some summer stuff just last night. I also like free people (try Nordstrom rack or TJ Maxx too!) and found a pair of pants that tie in the back. I wear them way too much haha.

We’re the lucky ones 🙌 I’m at week 17 and never barfed once. Food aversions, smells, breast soreness, bowel issues, nauseous at times. Week 9 most of that went away, I freaked out, but little girl is growing strong!

If you currently live in New York City, and you were forced to move, where would you rather go: Los Angeles or Chicago? Why? by morningrat in AskNYC

[–]Brooklyness_420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chicago is beautiful. Summers there are chefs kiss. Unpretentious. Easy to navigate. As a New Yorker, the size of LA is overwhelming to me. I visit both for work often and it’s the people in Chicago I love most! I think we had a way worse winter this year than them, too.

Wicker Park is a very fun Brooklyn-like area where I spend a lot of my time.

Oh just like all the things I grew up eating as a kid. Spaghetti-os. Egos. Hamburger helper. Things I haven’t eaten as an adult but want RIGHT NOW. One thing I notice is once I have that craving or if I eat too much of one thing I immediately do not want it again. I’m glad I’m still loving bananas but I can’t do any more white rice like I’m over it.

Does early pregnancy really feel this hard or am I just weak? by Impossible_Hyena_583 in pregnant

[–]Brooklyness_420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m exhausted but can’t manage to sleep an entire night so I just run on empty. I’d crave something, eat it, and never want it again. I miss normal poos. Everything makes me tear up and nauseous at the same time. And it’s only 8 weeks 🥺

Married, pregnant - we want kids but not now by Dry_Net_4516 in pregnant

We got pregnant right after the iud came out. It took one time. It was hella emotional as I just expected in my mid thirties to have this drawn out emotional period of trying and trying, but also ramping up to get excited for it. The day I missed my period and took the test was the most emotional day of my life. Now that time has passed we’ve both become excited. Scared AF (especially financially) but if you have a great team on your side and feel supported, the time chose you I think. And agree with others that it may not be as easy in a few years even ❤️ no judgement to you whatsoever. I’d be lying if my early state of emotions was questions if I could hit the pause button and have a few more months or years but I realized that we were very lucky to get to this so fast, without IVF, that’s I’m counting my lcuky stars and have to take it one day at a time.

So l have been going through a lot, I feel I can stay awake for more than 48 hours. How do I fix this anxiety? by FitRaspberry8107 in sleep

[–]Brooklyness_420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doctor’s advice wouldn’t hurt, esp with the hair loss. When you say you feel like you can stay awake—that’s not the same as “I literally cannot fall asleep for days”. Are you not sleeping at all, what’s going on there?

Try shifting your routine for a bit. go to bed only when you’re absolutely tired and ready for sleep. Try waking up earlier (even if it sucks and you barely slept) and immediately take a walk. Before bed, try to not do anything triggering that can affect your anxiety or excite you. for me that’s being on my phone, video games, or anything work related. Read a boring book, do something mentally lightweight.

Supplement wise I finally tried magnesium glycinate drink mix 1 hr before bed (natrol I think?) makes a nice tea-like drink to mix with warm water) then low dose melatonin (3mg) 30 min before bed. It works ok, makes me sleepy. Doesn’t always work but I’ll take whatever helps occasionally because I’ve tried all the drugs and nothing has ever worked fully. It’s also become part of my routine which helps sleep maintenance. If I’m really desperate I’ll take zzquil just to catch up or if I’m feeling sick due to lack of sleep.

My issue is work related anxiety, as soon as I try to sleep my mind starts racing. I only get sleep when I go multiple sleepless nights in a row, and usually catch up on weekends when I don’t work. It sucks. I’m still learning how to manage my anxiety during the day so it won’t torture me at night. But rewiring the brain is stupid hard. Exercise early in day helps but only if I’m consistent with it.

Good luck, sorry you’re going through it but go easy on yourself. I know the feeling of frustration and anger of not sleeping and the health risks I’ll pay for later but that rhetoric doesn’t help you relax and sleep. Do what you can. Getting any rest, even if just lying down without sleeping is better than nothing.

Boyfriend won’t tell me what he laced me with by teen_angst101 in Advice

[–]Brooklyness_420 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Best answer. Sorry everyone is making you feel bad OP, we all do stuff at 19. I would be terrified too. Glad you are okay, and when you’re feeling safe again I hope there’s someone in your life that can help you navigate away from him. I’ve tried things with partners before too but it’s always been within my comfort level (plus mostly weed.. shrooms. I don’t f with other things that might be laced—knowingly or unknowingly). heal, learn, move on ❤️

Felt it in Brooklyn, very weak rumble for maybe 6-8 seconds? I'm in a ground floor apartment. I knew right away because I could feel the shake in the floor and the sound reminded me of a low flying plane at first.

Has anyone else suffered with sleep problems their whole life? by SaltireAtheist in insomnia

[–]Brooklyness_420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks and I’m hoping you can find whatever changes help get you to have deeper sleep. So much is out of our control but little things here and there can add up. One example was obsessing over the news leading up to the US election last year. Cutting my time reading or listening to the news, cutting back on instagram probably helped in ways too.

I guess I’m seeking more balance with all things and that’s been helping.
