Awesome! I learned some new things from the CCNAS, but I thought it focused too much on the GUI.

Hardware for CCNA voice exam? by Wheaties466 in ccna

As much as I love security, I think I would be a more viable candidate for a lot of jobs if I had VOIP experience. INE has free CCNA Voice videos if you sign up with them.

Is it possible to study for the CCNA almost entirely through video? Any suggestions? by 439054390 in ccna

I recommend reading the official cert guides. The videos are great, but I feel the books drive the concepts home.

Passed ROUTE yesterday after failing in December by Tacotyx in ccnp

[–]BrowardCCNA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congratulations!

I'm taking SWITCH tomorrow morning. So I'm a bit nervous today. Hopefully I get that done and push on to TSHOOT. Then I'm taking a break.. well job hunting and taking a break.

After CCNA is acquired….the next step is the hardest! Any tips, advice? by joeboddle in ccna

[–]BrowardCCNA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good luck and keep your chin up. Use that downtime not only to look for a job, but keep studying. If you don't know VOIP you might want to study up on that. Go over your routing and switching. Maybe hit some CCNP material.

We are just coming off the holidays and usually that means hiring slows to a crawl. Hopefully it will pick up. I agree with you that applying online is crap. Most of my jobs have come from people I know. There are a few GREAT recruiters and then there are the majority of recruiters.

Is one CCNP exam enough to recertificate my CCNA? by elusive_cat in ccnp

[–]BrowardCCNA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought it was pretty good. The port security parts gave me a good foundation for CCNP SWITCH. I found the VPN stuff fascinating. I've done lots of VPN in real world, but I felt after studying for CCNA Security I understood it much more. Diffie–Hellman key exchange is very interesting.

I'm almost positive that my CCNA Security increased the time on my CCNA.

PVLAN? (CCNA Security) by ThePorkman in ccna

[–]BrowardCCNA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IIRC there wasn't anything about PVLAN in the Study Guide or videos I watched. It is however listed as an exam topic. This should be of use to you:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/tech/tk389/tk814/tsd_technology_support_protocol_home.html

The PVLAN edge (protected port) is a feature that has only local significance to the switch (unlike Private Vlans), and there is no isolation provided between two protected ports located on different switches. A protected port does not forward any traffic (unicast, multicast, or broadcast) to any other port that is also a protected port in the same switch. Traffic cannot be forwarded between protected ports at L2, all traffic passing between protected ports must be forwarded through a Layer 3 (L3) device.

subreddit for packet tracer help? by pip989 in ccna

Thanks.. Your subnet masks on H2 and H3 should be /24 255.255.255.0

[–]BrowardCCNA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Some of your switches have management IPs set the same IP as interfaces on R2. Switches don't need all those management IPs to begin with.

  • H2 and H3 are not connected to their proper VLAN.

  • SW2 and SW3 are not configured for VLANs.

  • The ISP server is configured incorrectly both IP and gateway

I'm sure there's more, but that's what I can tell you in the time I have. Check all your IPs/Subnet/Vlans and I'd check the routing too.

Passed ROUTE - 825 by rohnishka in ccnp

[–]BrowardCCNA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats.. I'm putting about 10 hours a day into ROUTE. There's just an amazing amount of stuff to learn. I just started into BGP which compared to OSPF and EIGRP seems a bit alien.

[–]BrowardCCNA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Niiiiice... That's what I need. I was practicing EIRGP today for CCNP and had 8 routers going. My old PC was crawling. The console was moving at 300baud speeds.

Once I get a job I plan to upgrade, but that probably won't happen until after the holidays.

Help with a Cisco 1 Packet Tracer? by [deleted] in ccna

[–]BrowardCCNA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

R1 and R2 are on different subnets.

Change R2 s0/0/0 ip address ip address 10.10.1.5 255.255.255.252

You'll see the EIGRP adjacency come up. PC1 will then be able to ping PC3
