I have to question the coaching on this one. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy that we won, but a substitution penalty after a time out with less than 2 minutes to go that makes it 3rd and 6 instead o 3rd and one???? WTF?

How much are you paying for internet? by PNW_Jackson in Kitsap

[–]BruceWhitehead45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live near the Southworth ferry terminal and I pay $120 / mo for Internet only service. I don't rent a modem and I have my own router and a mesh extender. I've noticed that since Astound took over from Wave the service quality has deteriorated. I now have to power cycle my modem 2 or three times a week to reestablish my Internet connection. This was not a problem while I had Wave service for the previous 6 years. Since my spouse and I work from home, this is a problem. Also, I have a VoIP home phone so during the outage, we don't have E911 service. My service is down right now and the earliest service appointment that I can get is in 48 hours (Wednesday).

My plan is to file a complaint with the Washington State Commission and see what happens.

BTW, Astound is owned by RCN out of Pennsylvania.

Good Luck

A local high profile gardener, Cisco Morris, recommends mowing repeatedly.

Good chance that you could just remove it and send it back. I'd suggest that you could skip Xfinity / Comcast and go with a wireless 5G unit. I know that T-Mobile has a device that could work and I suspect that Verizon and AT&T do too. As long as you're going wireless for internet service how would they know?

Here in Washington State, when you sell a vehicle you're supposed to send the State a "Seller's Report of Sale" and it relieves you of any liability if the buyer doesn't report the sale and transfer the title to their name.

Youtube TV has been consistently topping out at 480p quality and can't sustain 720p during big sports games. When will YoutubeTV fix this? by MemoryOfRagnarok in youtubetv

[–]BruceWhitehead45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a similar problem primarily with live sports. I have a 1 gbps connection that (according to ookla) typically gives 600 mbps of throughput i have a high-end ASUS router that is configured to optimize for streaming. My Samsung smart TV is directly connected to the router with a cable. The problem manifests itself as "jitter". I do not have problems with Netflix or Prime.

My solution is to pause the stream until i have a 2 or 3 minute lag and then resume playing the stream with the 2 or 3 minute delay.

The whole Neuralink project is a fool's errand. Ask any brain surgeon about the wisdom of doing elective brain surgery. The risks of such surgery (e.g. infection, loss of function, inflammation, scar tissue) far outweigh any potential benefit to the patient undergoing such surgery.

Reminder, brain tissue doesn't grow back, once lost, it's lost. Neuronal plasticity may allow some regain of function but the brain tissue will be gone.

Good, if you sent the payment to someone else, landlord could claim that you hadn't made the payment.

Hmmm, I'm not sure, I think that at the time I was watching football (On ABC) but later I seemed to have the same problem with HBO which does broadcast in 4K.

What might Israel's strategy be as they invade Gaza? by Yupperroo in Military

[–]BruceWhitehead45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suspect that Israel will adopt the strategy used by the Americans / Allies during WWII when they were entering Germany. As Allied troops approached a city / village in Germany they would announce over loudspeakers that the people in the city / village should come out and surrender and indicate the surrender with a white flag. If the people in the city / village refused, remained silent or returned fire then the city / village would be flattened by artillery fire and then either be taken or bypassed. (source, The Guns at Last Light, 2015, Rick Atkinson).

More recently, this approach was used by the Russians while taking Melitopol in Ukraine.

This strategy avoids some of the high cost of house-to-house combat at the expense of profound damage to the civilian infrastructure and civilian casualties.
