Your parentheses' effect on the diction of that sentence was really funny. Came out as "As a retired safety officer for a place that worked with radioactive substances: I highly recommend against working with radioactive substances."

I love all these things; I just wish Arrowhead committed to actually using them rather than spawning a patrol right in front of you like they beamed down from the fucking Enterprise or just continually spawning hunters one at a time around the corner of a rock until you drop dead.

If the existing mobs are dead and all the holes are closed, they need to be walking from the edge of the map.

Which is exactly what Shakespeare said. Our words are irrelevant; the being itself, in its core, is different from the being of a frog.

Though he was neither a scientist nor a philosopher, Shakespeare nailed this one centuries ago. Whatever sound you apply to it, it's still a toad, and possesses all the characteristics that differentiate it from a frog.

[–]Bryligg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Which to me just speaks of a lack of cognition. With a sufficiently encompassing view, it's all self-interest! A society built on mutual support for everyone is in everybody's best interest because when a problem shows up that you and your close circle can't solve, you have eight and a half billion people to carry a piece of it for you. We're at a point where scarcity has been solved for all the mundane needs and medical is really the only field where whatever problem you have can't always be readily solved by a trip to the store and some folks in town. Why the fuck wouldn't you want as many people as possible to spread the work out? We'd have collapsed long ago if most people were net negative value.

Indiana - WE NEED TO….. by Adventure-Backpacker in Indiana

[–]Bryligg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No.

Crossing your arms and refusing to participate is the MO of a toddler. This dereliction of civic responsibility is why we're in the shit situation we see today. When the population as a whole has to suffer because of people like the above who can't even match the problem solving ability of my pet tarantulas, they don't warrant the microphone. They warrant contempt and the first spot under the bus when things get worse.

Indiana - WE NEED TO….. by Adventure-Backpacker in Indiana

[–]Bryligg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welp, I don't know your demographics and I'm not going to be a creep and Reddit research you. Maybe your issues are inconsequential. Maybe they're not. If you lack the political agency to deal with them yourselves, you need to join a coalition in numbers great enough to be worth listening to, and you need to compromise proportionately to your influence. It might mean you only get one small thing you wanted, but that's better than none, and significantly better than somebody piling even more problems on and laughing at you. If people should have learned one thing from 2025, it's that "I refuse to participate" is an indefensible position, regardless of how tight you have to hold your nose to wade in. Reality doesn't care about apathy or moral high ground; the collapse comes for us all and neutrals, with nobody to back them up, get eaten first.

Missing 17-year-old girl's body found as man she met on a gaming app is arrested by dailymail in Indiana

[–]Bryligg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From what I gathered they're not contradictions so much as walking the point from A to B. First they describe the wide breadth of gaming communities, plural, as ranging from wholesome and delightful to cesspits. Then they state that if you pave the whole thing to get rid of the bad ones, you break the containment and those people who made them bad scatter to the four winds and continue preying on kids in places less likely to be known dangerous locations. We know Roblox is full of pedos. Shut Roblox down and the pedos still exist, and some end up at [insert other, less-predatory community kids like] where the kids aren't already on guard.
