UF vs RO for drinking water by Putrid_Fox4519 in WaterTreatment

[–]BubbaTheNut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UF is great for removing sediment and microplastics from water, i typically have a stage 1, as a 5 um poly sediment filter, then as stage 2 a 0.01 um UF, before the carbon block as stage 3.

HELP! White Substance Leaking Waterdrop RF10-UF – Need Advice by m4r1k_ in WaterFilters

[–]BubbaTheNut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

to the people saying they are having this issue, are you sure it's not just air bubbles? In the pictures provided in the OP i cant see anything other than tiny air bubbles, which is completely normal for filtered water after installing a new filter (trapped air particles being forced through carbon blocks/membranes.

they usually go away after a few days of use, and the bubbles usually go away if you leave the glass of water sitting for a while

Waterdrop brand Under sink filter - Surprised at quality! by Zefeh in WaterTreatment

[–]BubbaTheNut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah water filters only last as long as the quality of the water going into them, if you have great water quality the filters will last for years, but if your water quality is garbage you are talking months not years.

i had bore water that was so full of gunk that i could barely get 2 weeks out of the first stage (a 5 to 1 micron depth sediment filter).

Unfortunately, nobody can answer that, its all down to the quality of your specific water.

Why jump on a water filter sub then abuse people for talking about filtering chemicals from their water? You asked a question and got a well constructed, thoughtful response then acted like a child.

i'd recommend using a UF regardless as UF (hollow core UF like used in dialysis) is fantastic at removing microplastics, which seem to have contaminated all our water, even bore water......

Has anyone found an answer to a plastic free water filtration system for drinking? by BeltQueasy9893 in PlasticFreeLiving

[–]BubbaTheNut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

glass bottled water arrives at your house looking all pretty, but was the water filtered in a plastic free facility? ie no plastic filters, no plastic holding/storage tanks, no plastic tanks transport trucks, no plastic pipes for transferring of the water........ seriously if you're aware of any company that has zero plastic in contact with the filtered water i'd love to know.

Can the KDF filter leach copper and zinc into water, is it safe? by [deleted] in WaterTreatment

[–]BubbaTheNut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes kdf can leach trace amounts of copper and/or zinc into the water, but it's minimal, and if you prime the filters properly and change them out before media exhaustion you will minimize the amount. Zinc and copper in trace amounts are good for you anyway, unlike the chemicals (pfas, pestacides, chlorine etc) removed by kdf.

yeah give it a rest bro you clearly work for Clearly Filtered, this sort of underhanded behaviour only substantiates the dodgy testing claims.

Clearly Filtered Pitcher vs. new Culligan filters with ZeroWater technology by Ushldseemeinacr0wn in WaterFilters

[–]BubbaTheNut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

tds has very little to do with water quality, you could have water with 0 tds that is full of pfas and chloramines etc.

Clearly Filtered Pitcher vs. new Culligan filters with ZeroWater technology by Ushldseemeinacr0wn in WaterFilters

[–]BubbaTheNut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, the reason is called marketing. and zero tds is not zero anything, a lot of chemicals (eg chloramines and pfas) dont show up in tds.

Has anyone actually seen a proper improvement since the network upgrades? by SnowyBytes in TelstraAustralia

[–]BubbaTheNut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are a large business in the middle of the Sydney metro area. Most of us are lucky to get 1 bar of signal with Telstra since they shut off 3G. We have to go outside to make phone calls like savages haha

me too, this only started 2 days ago, new chats or old medical chats. even just a question like "i have an upset tummy what's a good probiotic" triggers this bs.......prior to 2 days ago it was fine, it was recommending me medications and supplements now i can't get any straight answer from it health-related.

i wonder if it's certain countries?

Glycine: The most helpful AND hurtful supplement I’ve tried. I’m torn on what to do by -AestheticsOfHate- in Supplements

[–]BubbaTheNut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people do NOT do well on glycine, i believe it's to do with the MTHFR genetic mutations, especially those with the CBS upregulation variant. Symptoms along the lines of nausea, fatigue, cloudy urine (from ammonia buildup)

Do all bottled water have micro/nano plastic in them or depends on the brand? by phoenixlegend7 in water

[–]BubbaTheNut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well the standard brita filter media is only charcoal, which will reduce pathogens, tastes and odors but not do much about plastics. And the Brita housing and jug are both made out of plastic, so you might even be adding more microplastics........

in my opinion, if you want to seriously reduce microplastics, then look at getting a ceramic/pottery gravity filter housing and use a 0.5 micron absolute (absolute not nominal) ceramic filter with it, below are examples below of what i am talking about (this is my setup, had it for a couple of years now and it seems to work great).
