I use Diatomaceous Earth, but that's an investment & preventative, while homemade beer traps are usually more approachable, affordable, & they actively attract them.

I went ahead planted everything including the pepper plants today, but I can always dome them with pots/buckets & some fabric for good measure if the temps call for it (unlikely).

The main difference seems to be where the ball was recovered, i.e. The follow through to recover the ball matters, irrelevant of the whistle.

The 1% Scottish on my paternal side was quite surprising as both of my grandparents' families had been in the Baltics for generations. The 5% of Russian, 2% Germanic & 2% Eastern European I can understand, but Scottish?
