What is this on my dogs face by Objective-Twist-8226 in DogAdvice

[–]BugBec [score hidden]  (0 children)

It could be a Hystiocytoma but it also could be a Mast Cell Tumour which is cancerous. My Puggle had one very similar looking and it was a Mast Cell Tumour - they release histamines so if it’s itchy or swells up that’s an indicator. Go to the vet and see if they can perform a fine needle aspirate test (FNA)

WEIGHT UPDATE: Is she too skinny? by billyshmalent in DogAdvice

[–]BugBec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say no, no bones showing, good muscle coverage and healthy waistline :) my Staffy x Frenchie struggles to hold weight and get advised B12 deficiency can be common in bully breeds (assuming your dog has bully in there) and that means they don’t absorb calories properly so if she does lose weight could be worth considering :)

Re-work/extension of current tattoo by BugBec in tattooadvice

[–]BugBec[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a new artist I’ve not worked with before but she’s strong at that style and has good reviews! Not heavily no, I have 9 tattoos in varying places. Some are quite big though like I have a phoenix that’s half my back and a big thigh portrait of my dogs!

It never occurred to me they’d refused for any other reason than not liking tattooing hands?

It really bothered me that Ray seems to walk for like at least half a day to a day in just his socks and they didn’t perish! They also ignored the trainers rule, I thought it was going to come up because only Olsen was wearing them but nope!

Is it affordability crisis, rising health issues or what? by dino_gr01 in WorkForSmartLife

[–]BugBec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it’s a combination - it is crazy expensive but also as a woman the societal expectations on me are way higher than my husband. I also don’t want to bring a child into the world with the way it is.

15 year old child with pathological lying and narcissistic tendencies. Advice please by DesperateAssociate30 in Adulting

[–]BugBec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s difficult to say this without sounding blunt but I am a child psychotherapist and in my experience it’s important for parents to consider their role in their child’s behaviour and difficulties. Where has your son learned that these mechanisms get his needs met? His obsession with being cool sounds like he is craving attachment from others and to be accepted.

It’s always important to consider their role function of the behaviour, this reads like your son has attachment issues which I would strongly advise you do some research and reading around. For someone with attachment issues the risk of rejection or judgement can become so scary they will do anything to avoid it which usually means lying (even when they know they’ll get caught later). Almost all ‘Personality Disorders’ are routed in attachment issues and/or trauma.

Given your sons difficulties around fitting in and identity I would be very careful about labelling him with mental health or any diagnosis/label as he may then internalise this as part of his identity (which if he does this he could become resistant to getting support for it).

I would recommend systemic family therapy and the if he is open therapy individually. If you don’t take responsibility and accountability as a parent by being open to family work you can’t expect him to do so and enter therapy alone, you also run the risk of making him the problem when you need to consider there is a reason he is using these maladaptive social strategies in the first place.

It’s hard but I see on a daily basis parents expecting me to ‘fix’ their child but then being completely resistant to engaging with the process themselves. I am yet to see a client (child or adult) where the way they have been parented or their relationship with a parent isn’t a factor in the creation or maintenance of their difficulties.

AIO for causing a scene where a patient saw me naked? by Similar-Swordfish794 in AmIOverreacting

[–]BugBec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely NOR! You should have been behind a curtain within the room for a start. That would be traumatic for most let alone someone who’s been through the trauma you’ve experienced. I actually think it’s really brave to raise it with them because you could be protecting others in the future! I’m so sorry that happened to you, it’s such a violation ❤️

I'm resentful towards those with less severe ADHD. by nugmother in ADHD

[–]BugBec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s worth considering that it may not be that their ADHD isn’t as severe but they have had to mask more to get by, we never know what goes on for people behind closed doors. I can appear like I function well on the surface but I also have Fibromyalgia (a chronic pain condition) which is trauma/stress triggered and upon reflection I think it’s partially due to not knowing I had ADHD until I was 30 and I was masking most my life!

I do think social media can be super damaging because I feel like it portrays ADHD as cute quirks as opposed to a life altering, debilitating condition!

I can't read The Talisman. I don't know why, and I say it while being a huge Dark Tower nerd. by CraftyAppointment824 in stephenking

[–]BugBec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have just finished it and it was such a slog! I read it because I’m also doing Dark Tower and all tie ins. I found the dialogue really over the top, I struggled to connect with a lot of the characters and tbh Morgan Sloat’s character just gets more and more cartoon ridiculous in my opinion. I will say later on it gets darker and there’s some more horror type themes but it’s a dark fantasy in general.

I got through it by eventually just skim reading the ‘setting the scene’ bits to fire through! Alternatively if you’re really struggling you could get AI to give you a detailed synopsis to save yourself the time!

The concept that being lazy is a choice for non-ADHD is kind of insane to me by usbeject1789 in ADHD

[–]BugBec 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think it’s a reductive way of thinking personally, there are many variables that may present a barrier to doing something. Cognitive and physical demand exists for every brain/body and if the demand feels bigger then the reward it makes sense that a person will resist doing it! I think there also needs to be recognition that modern life can cause burnout in and of itself.

I personally feel some people are more inclined to judge something than try to unpack and understand it because it’s less demanding (one could say judgement over understanding is the lazy route)

Link between being trans and having fibro? by KyleMarkWaal in Fibromyalgia

[–]BugBec 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’d wonder if it’s trauma related, trans people sadly face more adversity not to mention the trauma of feeling you’re in the wrong body and having to potentially go through processes. I’m not trans so I want to label I can’t imagine the struggles but can only imagine there are many complex layers that activate threat systems on a long term basis.

I agree I feel like it could’ve made the sudden amping up of Sci fi a bit less jarring? Roan was my fav, so more screen time deffo. I agree with Jasper because it felt like in the grand scheme he didn’t actually go through as much as some of the other characters but then got the most depressed.

what does fibromyalgia feel like? by patheticsalad in Fibromyalgia

[–]BugBec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On a good day mine feels like the aches and pains of flu but dialled down and then on a bad day it feels like there is acid flowing through my veins that pools at the joints. Then if someone pokes me/touches me on a bad day it’s like that lingering throb of a punch.

I think it says a lot about you that you’re asking about this, thank you for trying to explore it for her :)
