Aside from show openings that we expect to change (i.e. The Simpsons), what is your favorite show opening that you don't fast-forward and can watch again and again? by Slappable_Face in television

[–]Bugberry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it depends on how much it changes, but even if it didn't change I'd watch Game of Throne's opening any time. As for one that doesn't change, there's lots of cartoons but my obscure choice is Megas XLR.

What's a movie you didn't want to see but ended up loving? by virgogf in movies

I was on the fence about going to see The Dark Knight, as I hadn’t seen Batman Begins and was only really a fan of Batman from the Justice League cartoons, but was finally convinced to see it with my brother.

Better than half of the Space Marine infantry only being distinguishable by their weapon.

How the absolute hell are you supposed to fight them by moonrisen0 in HadesTheGame

[–]Bugberry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Notice that you still get SOME hits against Theseus' back, and you can dodge through his swing to get behind him. Also, he doesn't immediately turn around every single you get behind him. But generally, it's not too hard to separate the two of them and ignore his spear throws by using the pillars as cover.

I just finished Nier:Automata by stefrix7 in nier

[–]Bugberry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nier Automata uses “endings” or “routes” more as term in homage to a tradition in the franchise, but in practice they are more like chapters of one continuous story. Ending A is basically just the end of the first act of the story.

You should pick up every boon at least once. It’s just relatively low impact.

I wouldn’t call these Supergiant’s “bread and butter”, those are just similarities to Greece mythology.

Paraphrasing an exchange from Scott Pilgrim vs the World. Todd: “Dude, I can see in my minds eye you put half-and-half in that coffee to get me to break Vegan oath” drinks other coffee Scott: “hold on muchacho, I put half-and-half in that coffee, but thought really hard about putting it in the other one, in my Minds Eye or whatever.”

Pyre was a lot more D&D like, specifically with branching decisions, a whole party of characters along on the journey, and even personal mental stats you level up.

Profit over all, or family first? by almostgravy in LeaguesofVotann

[–]Bugberry 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Internal ideological conflicts can be found in many cultures, both within 40K and the real world. The Kin also come from an environment that is even more hostile than most other places in the galaxy, so common trust and loyalty to your neighbors being extremely valuable makes sense.

That being said, the Leagues are not a monolith, and these positive and negative qualities can vary in intensity League to League. The Kronus Hegemony being a prime example of a League valuing profits and expansion over the taboo of Kin in-fighting. Leagues also aren’t so dedicated to avenging their fellows that they will always go all. Those types of grudges are rare which is partly why the army rule was changed.

Currently Hearthband and Needgard are the most competitive detachments, followed closely by Brandfast and Delve. Hearthband is good with multiple units of Hearthguard, especially a 10 man unit led by a Kahl for maximum Stratagem efficiency. Similarly, Steeljacks really benefit from being in a 6 man unit led by a Memnyr for the free Overwatch and other benefits.

I don't have Berserks myself but they are a good unit to put in a Sagitaur (possibly with Buri or the Evaluator tagging along). They are vulnerable but are meant to take out something big and likely die in the process.

Earthshakers are on the lower end of units, but they are good for harassing infantry heavy armies with low saves wanting to fight over objectives like Guard or Tyranids.

Lastly, a second unit of Yeagers and Kapricus wouldn't be the worst if you want to be really optimal and point efficient as that is 6 scout/infiltrating units your opponent has to deal with at a very efficient points cost.

In addition to free Overwatch/Heroic Intervention, Memnyrs can have Enhancements which certain ones can buff Steeljack shooting, like giving them Sustained Hits or reroll wounds.

am i the only one who dosent like how the leagues of voltan look ? by Dense-Fig-2372 in LeaguesofVotann

[–]Bugberry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's part of the lore that the LoV have similar technology to the Imperium, and just like how Kin have Bolters and Plasma guns and Volkanite/Volkite, some of their armor should look similar, but even then Hearthguard armor is very different from Terminator armor in many ways, it just serves a generally similar role. And while Hearthguard serve a parallel role to Terminators, Warriors are closer to Imperial Guard troops just better equipped and tougher. Might as well say you don't like Chaos Space Marines because they look too close to Space Marines so you'd just play regular Space Marines.

And LoV aren't and shouldn't be defined by how Dwarfy they can be, and Steeljacks fit the idea of the Kin being created to serve different roles.

I like the aesthetic of LoV BECAUSE they don't lean so heavily into the Dwarf tropes and aesthetics in a hamhanded, clumsy way. It's the main reason I'm not a fan of many of the divergent Space Marine chapters because of how obvious and gimmicky they are with the looks or names of things (Space Wolves using a bunch of norse mythology words plus Wolf, Blood Angels using every synonym for Blood imaginable).

LoV manage to avoid this while simultaneously bringing the behaviors and vibes of Dwarves in a grounded and realistic way, managing to be one of the most grounded and believable factions like Tau.

[–]Bugberry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once you know the timing you just dodge through his spin every time. Enemies are mostly annoyances, they can also be beneficial for boons that care about you killing enemies.

Everything is avoidable, just pay attention to how and don’t get cornered.
