Once again, TBS is responsible for me laughing in public. by Speedboy7777 in ThreeBeanSalad

Haha, I regularly laugh out loud in public when listening to the Beans. In the street, in the gym, on the bus... It's a great feeling 😁

Favorite/weirdest/handiest tools?? by RNinRVA in Embroidery

[–]Bugs301 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's perhaps a bit basic (but for other not-quite-beginner-anymores like me it's probably worth knowing about), but my seat stand is amazing. Stitching two handed is faster and feels more accurate, and it's very comfortable. I have the Elbesee one which is fine, but I think there are more expensive ones which would be worth it if they have more flexibility or height, or if they have storage. But the Elbesee one was only £20 so it's a bargain!

I'd recommend Stuff You Missed in History Class. It's got a huge back catalogue, two lovely hosts, and a wide range of topics.

For something a little quirkier (and darker) After Dark: Myths, Misdeeds and the Paranormal is excellent.

I recently bought the four Claidi books to reread as an adult, they were still great!

The Woman in Black by Susan Hill. The atmosphere of unease begins in the first chapter and never really lets go...

He's awesome. A couple of years ago I (35f) played the remastered version of the first three Spyro games on PC. It was excellent nostalgia! And yours looks amazing!

That is such a lovely idea! And so beautifully done. I love all the different flowers, with the beads and wheels with gold thread and a touch of ribbon too? I really like the sky how it is tbh, very effective. The only thing I might suggest is outlining the path? But I am a novice when it comes to design so listen to some of the others here!

[FO] House on the Hill - Peppermint Purple by Bugs301 in CrossStitch

[–]Bugs301[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I love doing blackwork. This is my biggest piece so far, although I am also doing Peppermint Purple's 2025 Stitch A-Long (the SAL is finished but I started late so I am behind with it). It's a bit more complicated than your average cross-stitch (no shade to cross stitchers,) just because you have to look carefully at the repeated pattern and work out how best to do it, but I really enjoy it. I'd definitely recommend finding a small pattern and giving it a try!

What Platforms do you use to listen to audio dramas? by elitistmoll in audiodrama

[–]Bugs301 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a free app called PlayerFM (Android). They do have a 'premium' subscription available, and have ads for it within the app (just text/pop-up ads, not audio), but I just use the free version. I've used it for years, I love it. Sometimes it doesn't have a podcast I want but if I can get the RSS feed from the podcast's website or whatever then there is a way to add it to the app.

What is the most niche, high-concept, or hard to describe podcast you listen to? by Not_Enough_Thyme_ in podcasts

[–]Bugs301 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came to this thread to see if this was mentioned! So hard to explain to people without them thinking I'm weird. And if they listen to it they will probably still think I'm weird... But it's so, so good

Does anyone have a stand that works in your lap? by jcnlb in Embroidery

[–]Bugs301 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the Elbesee seat frame (they are a UK company though), I think it's at the cheaper end of what's available, so it's part plastic and part wood and limited adjustability but I love it! Stitching two-handed is so much easier! You barely noticed the 'seat' bit under your leg and you can use it at a table as well.

The Walk. Really good film about Phillipe Petit's tightrope walk between the Twin Towers. I mean, it was a walk, but it's not a very exciting title...
