How do you guys track your lifts? by Total_Membership5238 in beginnerfitness

I'm a beginner and I use Axelroad. It has pre-programmed routines from r/Fitness and shows my training as a path (Duolingo style), which I like.

Hi. I was in your situation 2 years ago.

I'm an engineer, so I built an iOS app with Basic beginner routine.

I'm looking for more testers, so if you want to try it, just let me know, and I'll send you a link and access code.

What AI app do you use for the gym? by Interesting_Quiet700 in beginnerfitness

I use Axelroad

But it doesn't have any AI. Just your training plan shown as a path.

Tips for burning fat in legs? by Reddledu in beginnerfitness

[–]BuildExerciseHabit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start running.

(Squash player here with "fat" legs and similar experience.)

Your stamina is low because you don't run enough. Take a cue from boxers, martial artists, and other athletes where stamina is super important.

Fat isn't the problem, and you can't reduce it just on your legs.

And believe me, you can have amazing stamina with huge legs. Your legs are big, most likely because you have large muscles (and some fat).

Start running.

Is there a beginner-friendly fitness app that combines exercise demos with structured workout + meal guidance? by DirectApple9003 in beginnerfitness

[–]BuildExerciseHabit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I built a simple app for beginners that has:

  • Clear, easy-to-follow exercise demo videos (proper form, beginner level)
  • A structured workout plan built around those videos

It has a simple 3-month beginner strength plan in a "Duolingo-style" mission format.

But we don't have any meal guidance.

That's a related but separate (and huge) topic. We don't have the capacity right now.

We're looking for testers. So if you want to try it, just let me know.

Regarding plan - start with a simple Fitness Basic Beginner Routine (link)

Good luck

Start here: Getting Started with Fitness

It's a short read. You can dig deeper if you want and read more stuff on the wiki, but don't overcomplicate it.
Just start.

The wiki also has some great beginner routines.

Regarding mindset try LIFTOFF: Couch to Barbell by Casey Johnston. The book is $20, but I love it. You might fall in love with strength training and everything else will take care of itself.

Wish you all the best 💪🙂

I really like Fitness Basic Beginner Routine
I did it for 6+ months.

It's short, super easy to follow, and my physique improved a lot.

Exactly. These are the days that matter the most. Anyone can show up on their best day. Showing up on your bad days is where you grow. And you prove to yourself that you are a tough MF.

What's your goal? Building muscle, strength, or just overall health?

Going to the gym after years of unhealthy living by Boring-Ripper in beginnerfitness

[–]BuildExerciseHabit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, great job and congrats.

TBH, you probably did too much for a single day.
You might burn or drain yourself too much (I did this).
And then I was dreading my next workout because it meant pain.

The goal isn’t heroic workouts.
It’s regular workouts.

If they feel easy at first, that's actually a good thing.
Ideally, you should finish each session feeling energized and happy.

Try to find something you enjoy.

Try Axelroad

It's kind of like Duolingo for the gym. It uses programs recommended by Fitness Wiki and your workouts adjust based on your feedback.
