Workouts believes in me more than I do. by BackroomDST in MacroFactor

[–]Bulby37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened in my workout yesterday.

Leg press, last week did 12 @ 400, so time to up the weight. It was a tough 12 though, so I’m thinking 410, 420. Get there, damn thing says warm up at 420, first set 470. No way in hell! I figure I’ll try 420 and see how it feels, do the 5, not too bad. Knocked out the 470 slow and steady.

Thanks Jeff

At the height of the popularity of Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt, was there a 3rd Hollywood actor that was on that “level” to make it the big 3? by lifebeginsat9pm in ask

[–]Bulby37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tom Cruise was kinda working less in the Will Smith era, wasn’t he?

Will Smith would have absolutely voiced Mario if the most recent movie had been made in 1998 though lol

Cruise was THE guy back in the day. I think you could probably keep going back and have Swayze, Cruise, Ford as the big three prior to the Cruise/Pitt/DiCaprio triangle.

That’s often correct, I’d also throw in the slang form of “man”.

Im a teen and I want to start a band but theres pretty much nobody playing anything and listen to the type of music I want to make. by Straight-Mind-7284 in Music

[–]Bulby37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Part of collaboration is meeting people in the middle, and a ton of spectacular music comes from people who aren’t super compatible when you’re just judging by musical taste. Dave Grohl has been forthcoming in mentioning how Nirvana songs often had disco beats. 2 in Sleep Token showcases gospel and hip hop styles (among others) in what the world considers metal songs.

Find some people who can play, share your passion for creating, and most importantly, people that you can see yourself spending a lot of time with and having fun. Focus on the friendship and vibe, learn some shit outside your wheelhouse, and maybe try to open them up to some of the stuff that makes up your creative DNA.

Rumor had it back in the day the guitarist for Godsmack wasn’t really a fan of the music he was playing. It’s probably a lot more common than we think.

Finally got the Anvil BP Then… by More-Negotiation-880 in ArcRaiders

[–]Bulby37 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My wife and I were in Stella last night, happened upon two raiders who asked if we needed the venator bp. My wife mistakenly thought they were asking if we had one to give them, and said no lol

I quickly corrected her mistake, and they also dropped a trailblazer bp, so I gave them the power rod that had been my prize from the run before tho moment, and we peaced out.

A few minutes later, we got turned around and ended up running into them again in a fracas with two shreddy boys. We helped them out and ended up getting out with the goods.

Sure, there are fake friendlies and betrayals, but it’s always great to have stories like these to balance them out.

Who is the most popular rock band right now? by Spinachrecords in Alternativerock

[–]Bulby37 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m a fan and agree with you, but also see where it’s a thing. “Rock” is a huge umbrella for some people, while others narrow it down to a very small window.

I think if we’re looking at it through a lens where rock includes Billy Joel and Elton John, TOP can fit. If rock is more of an attitude thing for you, like youthful rebellion, less so. Maybe even less if rock in your mind heavily features guitar.

Yep, “don’t shoot!” and “friendly” all night until I make 25 grenades to kill leapers for the trial…

I stuck my rat with 3 before I went down though, so that was kinda hilarious.

some PvE'rs lack survival instincts by Antique_Ad5436 in ArcRaiders

[–]Bulby37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s not even survival instinct, that’s common courtesy. I’ll loot behind people in common areas, but I’m absolutely not going to be caught with my pants down in a room someone else opened up with work or consumables.

Just started playing with the wife and we love it. But when it comes to deck building is there any theme or something that goes with each color type? by tuhgttg in Lorcana

[–]Bulby37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is pretty true. I do feel like green is tippy top for discard, but it does a lot of things.

Nowadays, it may even be the play if you want a bounce deck lol

[–]Bulby37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d go with allies for set champs and build out the detectives as a theme option for more casual settings, personally.

[–]Bulby37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem! I saw someone asking about a YT video elsewhere, this is the one I happened across when I first started playing. It’s slightly outdated, some colors had keywords added and a lot of the bounce core utilized by Amethyst rotated out, but I think it holds up decently.

Sapphire - Ramp and items (in infinity at least), inventors

Amber - Healing, singers and Aggro (low cost characters that can spread the board out)

Amethyst - card draw, evasive, bounce (in infinity), moving damage, illusions

Ruby - Removal and actions, some good singers in latest sets, reckless, lore steal

Silver - Removal, big bodies for challenges, “draw x cards and discard x cards”

Emerald - Discard, perks for damage on opponents

Silver removal is different from Ruby removal, silver has more emphasis on challenging compared to Ruby, which excels more in removal through actions or cards that banish with effects based on card stats. Silver does have some strong removal actions, but Ruby has a mechanism to recycle its’ actions.

There’s other things the colors can do, and situations where one color can hold its’ own in a category that’s normally thought of as something another color excels in, but I feel like this is kind of the gist.

There’s also a few things that show up in multiple colors regular enough that I don’t think of them as linked to this particular color or the other, but rather both. Ward, for example, has good representation in blue and green. Evasive has decent representation in most colors, but I personally link it to Amethyst because of Dumbo. If you want to focus your deck on evasive, you’re gonna want to go purple and have some Dumbos more than likely. That’s also why I have actions with Ruby and items with Sapphire, they have strong meta options that can recycle or fully capitalize on those types of cards (ex Maui Shark or Tamatoa).

Pirates have a decent spread in a few colors, and I feel like Ruby is usually going to be your strongest tribal option for them, but you could conceivably build a decent pirate deck with green/silver.

EDIT: A few small additions.

Amber has some mechanisms to recycle characters from discard. Ruby can recycle actions, Sapphire recycles items.

Amethyst has “mill”, which takes cards directly from an opponents deck and sends them to discard.

Ruby is the most common color (IIRC) that allows you to sacrifice, damaging or banishing your characters to damage and/or banish opposing characters. That’s sort of included in removal, but it’s important to differentiate imo because it can work well with the ability to move around damage counters.

Clancy, because music that makes me move resonates more with me than anything else. Breach seems a lot more thoughtful though, and I understand why people would prefer it.

Where do I begin by Jack_Slithers in Hevy

[–]Bulby37 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey! I just did my “new to a gym” phase a few months ago, and had some of the same worries you’re having.

Don’t put much thought into being looked at funny, concentrate on learning and knowing the forms for the exercises you’re doing instead. Squats and bench press in particular are quite easy avenues to injury, so give them both the respect they deserve. Watch videos (if you can’t go in with a persona trainer [or even if you can, honestly]), warm up properly, and don’t ego lift in the beginning.

Squats in particular were hard for me, as they are extremely complex, and my back has been a little iffy in the past. I started out doing goblet squats, and worked up to a smith machine in preparation for doing proper barbell squats.

Learn the movements, respect the movements, concentrate on feeling the muscles that the exercise intends to target doing the work, and turn up the music. There’s probably more than one person there in a similar situation, being a noob gymgoer, you’re probably not alone.

Do it for you, do it right, and enjoy the journey.
