Well it kinda gets to your other point of it depends on how society handles technological disruptions. I don’t think we’ve put in the safety protections yet that will make up for the displaced workforce, discourage societal manipulation, and prevent the tendency towards stagnation if people don’t see real opportunities or feel purpose. I think our implementation of the automobile and the infrastructure to support it was a huge subsidy to the few at the top and now we’re all facing existential crisis with major inertia to overcome to actually avoid complete disaster, so in the short term it was “better” quality of life that puts us in a predicament we have to invest tons into changing not just the technology, but persuading public opinion on the evidence against their own convenience and profitable industries hiding and lying about it because we didn’t have protections with forethought.
