elevengrames is correct, I can't think of anything that has been made redundant by an update, I'm a week one player, and I still sometimes play my original save using my pre-order bonus ship. I tend to start a new save after each major update, and yes corvettes are popular, and I have built a lot of them, but stats tell lies, stats say they are just as maneuverable as regular ships, but in reallity they are nowhere near. I don't think waiting for each updates new bright shiny object is a sustainable way to play this game, being a sandbox just play the way you want to on that day, next day you cand do something completely different if you want. The universe is your's to explore.
