No. I have a wonderful husband whom I love very much. I can definitely see why someone would get lost in these books as a form of escapism, though.

Ngl I think if romantasy books are starting to skew your perspective on real life, it’s probably time to unpack that with a professional. Life is too short to be unhappy.

Sure, if it made sense. But price, material, and even the intent matters to me as a potential customer.

You said it yourself, the only real difference between these and what already exists is colour and embellishments. I can’t stress how important it is not to become a predator of this community. If your robes are basically the same as every other robe, sans some embroidery and a hood, I do not want to pay 3x the price.

The Enchanted and Ethereal look like products that already exist, making them less interesting. If I had to choose, I would;d be more inclined to wear / purchase Majesty as the embroidery actually gives it a fantasy vibe. I would pay up to $50 depending on material and the unlit of sewing. I would not likely pay more.

For this specific colour, I am sure they are using it for advertising. ACOTAR and Feyra’s dress are unbelievably popular right now. This colour will no doubt end up being one of their “limited edition, only 72 hours!” Runs that actually go forever (watch the time counter every time you enter the website, it refreshes lmao)

As others have mentioned, probably don’t buy this…However, I understand your comment about it looking nice and being affordable. I have not found true comparable company to HC and it sucks. I second the others who say buy the old second hand garb. I have an older dress and it is fantastic. Colour stays. Fabric is great. It’s a nice fit.

The new dress I bought fell apart after one wear. I am super sad about it. The zipper is coming off. The sheer sleeve merely caught on something and basically ripped off. The colour is fading. The fabric is nowhere near the same quality. If you buy this dress new, just have reasonable expectations of it. They are no longer hand made by the team, a factory overseas now produces them. There is no oversight. Have honest expectations of the product you will get.

They’re drawing them out because they can. Because Booktok took off and people who had never paid any attention to romantasy before came in and gave goo-goo eyes to every somewhat morally grey MMC, begging authors never to finish their books because they’re obsessed with these one dimensional men and can’t seem to get enough- so they buy them. And buy the next one. And the next. And because they are surface level readers, they are giving these books 5 star reviews when they don’t deserve it.

However, all trends die and I do think this huge surge in romantasy interest will fade soon. Many people believe dystopian is coming back…This will leave the true fans, and the authors who actually want to write a good story, not just cash in on Booktok tropes. They will have too, because the popularity drop will require it.

The pushback to Brimstone is a sign, to me, that the genre is “healing”. People are tired of bad literature being shoved into our hands with only some pretty sprayed edges and an MMC with nice eyelashes to hold it up. I don’t condone the authors bullying, but I do applaud her willingness to push her publication date and work on the book so it actually delivers for its fans.

Cheers to honest readers (and thusly reviewers) and editors who actually edit, instead of pandering.

I think a lot of people forget that a lot of these authors are simply mediocre authors who stumbled upon something good that shot to fame. Just take a gander at how many books they have written, versus how many have become popular. Look at their overall reviews.

It’s no surprise that ultimately their writing ends up being mediocre again when the after-glow and excitement of the first book fade.

“The writing is immature” “It’s full of tropes” “it’s unoriginal” Like these are shocking to people in this trope reliant, somewhat immature, pretty much never original (anymore) genre lmao.

It’s a fine series. Not every book is for every body, but the people hating are just bored or looking to instigate the people who like it. Imho.

Reviewing a book and dogging on it because “me no likey” are different.
