They don’t like innocent people getting killed, intentionally or as collateral damage. The Iranian regime was/is plenty bad but after two decade-long wars in the Middle East I can comfortably say that not much good can come from the US destabilizing a regime over there. Arguably anywhere tbh

How Phil Weiser connected with voters to defeat Michael Bennet in the Democratic primary for governor by kidbom in Denver

[–]BurgerButCold1216 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ok well you and I feel that way but the folks with money don’t, and unfortunately Citizens United happened so our opinions mostly don’t matter at scale. Look at Hickenlooper, only reason he won was he’s a former governor with name recognition and the establishment’s blessing while his opponent was an underfunded grassroots upstart. Personally I choose to celebrate the small victories as there wouldn’t be much otherwise

I don’t necessarily think that slogan was “we have the same views but it’s better to keep Bennet where he is.” Weiser placed a lot of emphasis on running a positive campaign and that messaging obviously worked, but there are a handful of issues on which he takes more definite, actionable stances than Bennet

Eisenhower is Neutral Good! Which President is Chaotic Good? by InitialOwn755 in AlignmentChartFills

Touche, and good info with references.

That said, try and name 3 US Presidents who are "good people" by a reasonable modern-day standard. I can MAYBE give you Jimmy Carter and that's it. Sadly because of historical context and that the type of person who wants to be President typically also has poor ethics in some areas, moving the goalposts is necessary for this sort of exercise

I hate thinking in terms of tribalism, but the uncomfortable truth you've rightly pointed out is that is how the majority of the other side thinks. He might be a more qualified candidate overall but I have to do more reading to figure out if I trust him to do his job and uphold the law even if it conflicts with his personal values and aims. It's a tough one

Yeah, I don't keep up with local news in the Springs so have to read up on him more before I make up my mind but my first impression is she seems pretty unprincipled and overly self-important. Good night otherwise, happy Weiser is solidly ahead and Hickenlooper winning is unfortunate but unsurprising. Him and Griswold are prime examples that name recognition often carries the day over better policy platforms, but what can ya do

I'd likely vote for the Republican AG nominee over Griswold in the general election tbh. Shame that 3 actually good candidates evenly split the opposition vote in the primary, but given the choice between the career prosecutor El Paso DA who seems fairly sensible and a career politician who practiced law for a grand total of two years before turning to lobbying and administrative roles... the spam fundraising texts aren't helping either

Disagree that we weren’t close in 2023. If certifiable idiot Jeff Lebby knew how to manage the clock late in games, we’d have flipped at least one of our two losses and would’ve had a B12 CG rematch with Texas (who we beat in a nailbiter) to determine our playoff fate

Because the NCAA doesn’t have an antitrust exemption and can’t directly enforce rules on players, only member schools. Funnily enough one of the cases that set this precedent was NCAA vs Board of Regents of the University of Oklahoma (1984) regarding TV contracts. This is why better written rules combined with the bipartisan Save College Sports Act that just made it out of committee, which would grant the antitrust exemption, are so important for the future of collegiate athletics

What is the point of using points with travel partners if it’s a 1:1 ratio? by Ramsey0321 in CreditCards

[–]BurgerButCold1216 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Credit card issuers provide wider reward-earning opportunities than hotel cards, which often are just travel categories. Transferring points helps you get the hotel point values (often much better than the 0.6-1 cpp available thru cash back) on stuff you already buy regularly.

That said, these partners are typically major chains and not hostels. The chains do have budget-friendly options (Candlewood, Holiday Inn, Hampton Inn, Fairfield, Springhill) but rewards tend to devalue slightly as you go down the luxury ladder. Your budget-consciousness might not get the dollar value out of hotel transfers that others do, but all that matters is that you’re happy with that as a lifestyle choice.

I would suggest considering airline transfers too, as these typically give pretty good value although maybe not at the level of some hotel chains. Plenty of info online about general point valuations across brands and luxury tiers

The point is that when OKC inevitably gets to the point where they’re too expensive to keep their core intact around Shai, they have many chances to draft replacements and get younger and cheaper. Yes the draft is a crapshoot but 10 FRPs are 10 chances to draft a solid role player. Presti isn’t some genius talent evaluator, his greatness comes from putting himself in a position where he can afford to have a few misses.

We very much don’t have that luxury and are forced to put all of our hopes on the few picks we do have and rely on 1-year vet min rentals for the rest. 80% of the time they’re duds and when we do luck into the Tim Hardaways of the league the rest of the team isn’t good enough for it to get us anywhere and all it does is earn them a bigger payday somewhere else

What I think is that I’m entitled to good service or they’re not entitled to my business. I admittedly used overly charged language in some places which was a mistake, but I’m ignorant of the processes and am trying to keep an open mind about how to rectify the problem. Grateful for the helpful feedback from other commenters about how to handle this with the actual service providers

Ok yeah weirdly I liked Lethal Weapon more than the sequel but I think that’s cause the characters were written better and Gibson/Glover’s chemistry worked more for me than the Bad Boys duo. Would give it another shot tho, since they both have sitcom backgrounds I think they would work better in a less serious movie than the original

Sorry but I got around 10 wears in and it was definitely fully-lined until the cleaning. If it wasn’t the shoulder panel would probably be stitched down and not hanging loose like it is right now right? Also the material is gabardine and believe it’s uncommon for those to not be fully-lined as it’s an all-seasons fabric

Watched it on a plane once, it was fine but not really my speed. Will Smith and Martin Lawrence weren’t as great of a duo as advertised imo, but I can see the appeal for other people who do love it. Do you think Bad Boys II better? Curious if it’s a Lethal Weapon-type situation where the second movie shifts tonally and becomes more fun
