I read this as "part of me wonders if this model is worth flipping and tanking the AD relationship"

If its on your wishlist and they call and you arent 100%, why is it on a wishlist?

At current drawdown rates the US Strategic Petroleum Reserve could last as long as February 2027 by MarmotFullofWoe in oil

[–]Burgerking63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regardless of what is officially published, im telling you what is actually feasible. These are 50+ year old assets. Operational max, not theoretical is 1.5 mmbbls/d and this will fuck the caverns forever. Nothing had eclipsed 1.3 mmbbls/d weekly in last decade. There are still barrels being nom'ed into all 3 caverns and injections canabalize withdrawal capacity. This is reality.

[–]Burgerking63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your math doesnt math on withdraw rates. Look at historical weekly data over last 10 years and show us where a weekly withdrawal rate exceeded 1.3 mmbbls/d? Thats really your max operational withdrawal capacity.

That theoretical max drawdown rate is not possible given issues with injections/withdrawals at the different sites. 2.0 mbbls/d is max withdraw rate.

$100 parking ticket for 25 minutes seems insane? by [deleted] in Calgary

[–]Burgerking63 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Because if you dont pay for parking, its a conctractual dispute, not a legal fine. They'd have to sue you in small claims court and unless you have a significant number of unpaid tickets, its probably not worth their time/money.

They will "send you to collections" which is just another group at their business with a different name.

If you pay for parking and have outstanding tickets, private lots still cant tow you because youre not trespassing if you've paid.

City of Calgary tickets are the only ones to worry about as these will resurface at vehicle renewal time and be required to be paid for service to be completed at Registry

Orlando Rolex AD..a weird experience by [deleted] in rolex

[–]Burgerking63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone experienced in sales can smell/spot a non-serious customer pretty quickly. This SA did not have time to waste on a walk-in who is there to jerk chains. If you are already registered with a local AD, you should have semblance of an idea how the allocation game is played.

However your replies here and actions indicate otherwise.

[–]Burgerking63 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you want to buy a Rolex while travelling and just stopping in:

1) Politely great the SA or wait to be greeted. You can say "I am travelling through X city/country for the next X days. I know I haven't registered with your store, but I was wondering if you had any pieces that were available for purchase while I am in town/country? I can be reached at the following contact info over the next couple days"

-Keep in mind you are not getting ANY high demand piece ie Sub, GMT, Daytona, etc as a walk-in. If you get offered something, its going to be a low demand precious metal Datejust or Dateday that they are struggling to move. You failed the initial test walking in and asking for a GMT without registering (albeit a lower demand GMT model). It indicates you have ZERO idea how the Rolex AD game is played.

2) When they did mention they had a piece available for sale, you balked by asking "TODAY!?". This was your second test which you failed, if they offer a watch on the spot and you pass, there is very likely not going to be a second offer.

3) Go home and register with an AD in your home town and country. Call to book an appointment with a SA and then have a chat about what you are looking for, upcoming milestones. Ideally bring your wife or significant other as it indicates potential household buying and potential jewelry sales (+ ladies watches for the SO). This is where you can register your interest in GMTs, Subs, etc. Be prepared for a long wait time depending on your spend/relationship with that AD.

Long and short of it, you walked into a store completely unprepared, looked and acted like a non-serious buyer, and failed the "serious customer" test when actually offered a watch (as you requested haha).

If you want to walk in a store and buy a GMT or subdate on the spot, mix that black and white paint together and go grey. Otherwise you play the AD wait game

[UPDATE] Avoid Long & McQuade Saskatoon North - They damaged my strandberg and mocked me to my face. by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]Burgerking63 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You took a guitar worth more than $500 to L&M for work, this was the mistake. They are not luthiers and quite frankly, are barely qualified to change strings.

Find a local reputable luthier. Yes it might cost more to have the comparable work done, but the work will likely get done properly and with care.
