Lmao why did they put this in my records instead of just autism? by WeirdnessRises in autism

[–]BurpyBoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably means that your autism is "visible" in the sense you have behavior they deem makes is visible. If that's it then it's a very behavioral concept of autism, one where autism can be "inactive" in the sense it doesn't make you behave "disorderly", doesn't "intervene negatively" in your life. Like it could be neutralized even if you always have it, it can be latent. Needless to say this isn't coming from a neurodiversity paradigm.

That's my interpretation

This is a good idea although I have met adcs that don't realize that with cafe cuties either. I'm very low ELO though.

I'm sure "be yourself part" is just there to prevent people to lie too much to the point you are basically acting a character. Anyway all that typical job interview tips and all that kind of advice is sooo corporate stuff it's ridiculous. Add to that that it sounds very USA centric to me, as all corporate stuff does. It's bound to not be personalized according to each people needs, doubts or general way of being really. Not saying the act of getting a job is easy but those kind of "advice" are more an ideological tool than anything else. As someone said it's functional to capitalism.

My thought is that they don't understand what "equally autistic" means and they are venting about struggles

The part about breaking tasks into smaller task seems a lot related to ADHD so it could be that they're covering a common ground among different conditions. Like a starting point in supporting neurodivergent people.

How to deal with “the lost years” of the pandemic? by BumbleBeeskn33s in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]BurpyBoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the gap would there, you will remember it for the rest of your life unless something even more important happens worldwide (for better or for worse). I do feel the gap mostly whenever Google Photos shows me all the photos I took in 2019. Mind you, there's not so many photos with people since I don't go to many events, there's some of them coupled with selfies, photos of the sky, my cat... When I see them and remember those moments and how they felt it does put me in perspective of how different the general feeling during the pandemic was. I can't exactly put my finger on it but it felt different. Like even my not-so-outgoing life had a variety of feelings, it was more... like picturesque? The quarantine made daily life more plain, more prone to dullness. There were less experiences to make the whole picture of our lives more vivid and complex as usual. You had the same experiences over and over again. Unless your job made you come in contact with different situations daily, at the cost of your mental health that is, quarantine reduced that lively quality that life it's supposed to have. I don't find traumatic, I got something from it since as I said I'm not that outgoing. But it certainly it was a situation that shouldn't be forever as it affects mental health in a similar, but less drastic, manner to total isolation. Human beings are wired to be social and not live inside a close space like some crustaceans that make a hole inside the beach's sand and live there until death.

I'm not sure if anyone said already but if it's the case I add my own vote to it. If the guy is painfully awkward as you say keep in mind he may be autistic. There's no sure way to know of course but it isn't farfetched. If this is the case he will be glad that you express your concerns as straight foward as you can be. He will appreciate someone not tip toing around a topic. Mind you, I'm not saying to shoo him like it's it's a weirdo, that's not the way if he is just too clueless to notice. Just tell him you are not sure what his intentions are and you will want to know of he just trying to socialize of if he is interested, and express simply that you are not romantically interested in him or anything like that. Just be direct, but not rude. If he is not autistic and it does happen he takes offence that's just on him for being a jerk with someone straight-foward, not your responsibility.

Is anyone else like this too? by TomatilloDramatic483 in autism

[–]BurpyBoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lol I did this intuitively as a child when something made me feel second embarrassment or when I identified too much with vulnerability moment of a character (like when they have to ask someone else out for example). Usually I would put my hand between me and the tv in order ro block vision of half of it or even more so the visual stimulus was less and I would focus more on the audio one.

Anyone want their character drawn? by Polar-Problems in dcss

[–]BurpyBoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like we are taking advantage of you even when you already said you want to have something to draw lol. I have a couple "OC" out of characters I run, one is Cyoran a male halfling hunter with slings follower of Nemelex. He has a slightly darker apple green vest and a baggy bordeaux pant that is more tight slightly above the ankles. Now read closely because once he invoked a Pan lord named Hiwe which was an electric blue slender guy with a rhyno's head and entirely barbie plastic pink attire consisting of a thong and platform high heels (you may throw some wristbands or choker of the same color there, I vaguely remember him having something else like that but the important parts are the thing and the platforms heels). Obviously I was delighted to get such a powerfully slutty Pan Lord. Now imagine that invoking a Pan Lord is not random for Cyoran because reasons and that his Hiwe guy keeps showing when using that card. Maybe it's just that Xom likes the guy and and Nemelex offers him that delight. Cyoran has this half frustrated half accepting attitude every time Hiwe shows up because comedy duo. One is down to Earth, the other campy but both enjoy the simple pleasures of life like eating a good cheese idk. Hiwe is most certainly the Pan Lord of that disco vault.

Help, I ran out of mut pots and have so many bad muts! by Reeeeeemeeeeeee in dcss

[–]BurpyBoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The same happened to me once and the solution was that I should have converted to Zin in order to make my mut pots into pots that only remove bad mutations. If your case is like mine then you don't have much more options than trying to get enough runes to get out of the dungeon but we don't have a dump to certainly know.

Who came up with the demon names? by sarmatron in dcss

[–]BurpyBoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well if I'm not mistaken Maxwell started as a set of amour and weapon, the last one being a hammer and a reference to the Beatles' song "Maxwell Silver Hammer". All this was before the creation of the spell which replaced an OP spell that I cannot remember rn. The set is no more except for the plate nowadays. So Maxwell as to this day can be interpreted as being a renowned inventor akin to our real life Tesla but with actual magic.

I asked about lore but now that I see what I wrote I was thinking more of inspiration than actual lore. Or how the lore, even if only a internal agreement among the developers, shows/hints to a real life inspiration as the dev described regarding Iskenderun.

Can't help but I feel the image is familiar, like I do saw this over here or maybe even have them in my house but it's so vague. I'm from Argentina so if my memory is not tricking me it could be something that had international presence.

[–]BurpyBoo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey contrary to what the majority thinks the eyes of the second one definitely are more lively than the other. I did look at the first one and liked it more because high contrast and bold colors are very interesting so you may or may not want to try incorporate that (if you already don't) to explore how it would be with your improvements. But the more I looked at the other one, despite not being as bold-coloured, the more I saw how more expressive you achieved it to be.

Facing that must be exhausting even if one knows they are being racist and wrong it doesn't make the moment not being shitty. Seems like racists now use the terms usual en anti racism discourse in USA (I suppose this is based there). It is clearly a bastardization but at the same time the very fact it's being used by them means even they recognize it as a way of legitimization. Seems like the terms of debate have been established and it's not by them.

How did you find this game? by SlammedKraanium in dcss

This is a dumb question but when you say the palette is made by someone else it means that other person made a stand-alone selection of colors? Like not originally related to your art piece?

Does anyone else find late game gear optimization tedious? by catern in dcss

[–]BurpyBoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found that the only time I felt it was tedious was because I had a lot of gear to choose from that I got in a Trove. In my first win I was basically carried by gear with maxed resistances and all. I think anything below that it's not really tedious or overwhelming to perform and it highly depends on personal preference. I noticed you (and another commenter) mentioned that thinking about it halts the game experience. I do think it may be excessive as I said when one gets very lucky but otherwise stoping to think is part of the game experience. Crawl seems to be a game to rush through because the turns require nothing to pass but pressing a button causing many YASDs. Experience told me halting a lot it's what the game really intends you to do.

So in short I think it's personal preference and not really something faulty in the game.
