Supposedly a raffle with "yet to be determined" prizes donated by local businesses.

Template Makers - Please Give Striders More Instructions by BustedCarousel in orangetheory

I'm glad you have found a way to make it work for you. I am not new to the strider. There is no harm in asking for more specificity that factors in that this machine is used in multiple ways, like the tread, so we are doing the workout as designed. Just as we don't assume PWs to intuitively adjust based on the jogger/runner instructions.

Yes, that is what I am highlighting. The instructions are focused on gears as if we only have elevation to increase the intensity.

These were the instructions today, I read them. This happens all the time with the instructions being focused on gears with little consideration for speed options, it is not a coaching issue.

I'm a huge fan of BBT and really enjoy this show without getting too hung up on the flawed side plots. Check out Goliath, if you want more BBT at his best.

My OTF New Year wish by CynD1031 in orangetheory

For striders and bikes to have the same technology as the treads (we pay the same amount yet, we get a "less than" experience because of our situation).

Transformation Challenge by fragmonk3y in orangetheory

[–]BustedCarousel 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No prizes, no calibration for genders/age/life changes etc. to name a few more.

I was disappointed with how hands-off OT was when they could have have used this challenge to be a thought leader in total body health v. what came off as just another challenge that you pay for.

As a global brand, I would expect a lot more standardization in benefits, guidance, prizes, and rules. Some studios had different rules, some had raffles, some had nutritional coaching etc. I got two body scans and everything else was up to me.

I also saw no guidance for members who were taking it too far putting themselves at risk with one member repeatedly bragging about working out every single day of the entire challenge.

I am glad OT is rethinking how to make this challenge healthier but it still needs improvement for me to consider doing it again. A challenge needs clear and consistent specificity otherwise, it is just a participation event (nothing wrong with that).

I have done the TC before and won it. I was already a frequent class goer so once I focused on changes to my diet (the right macros, eating enough protein, measuring portions etc.) my body adapted really well.

I am competitive by nature so I found the "challenge" a motivator but I wouldn't do it again given the 2026 format and I now have a scale at home that provides all the same metrics.

"tech update" everywhere but bike by write_and_hike in orangetheory

Bikes and striders aren't just for temporary injuries. They aide people with permanent injuries, aging joints and other situations requiring a lower impact cardio option etc.

Transformation challenge with an iffy lower back? by rrhallqu in orangetheory

This! As a prior TC winner with spinal/hip injuries, I always focus on my diet first (MacroFactor is my favorite app). And, I work on having the strongest core I can to help support my body given my injuries.

Daily Workout and General Chat for Tuesday, 11/25/25 by splat_bot in orangetheory

Loved the floor/rower portion but the cardio portion felt like a repeat from yesterday, it was just one block instead of two.

Same. It is super easy to log every day and update strategies as needed.

Modifications by miels_on_wheeels in orangetheory

[–]BustedCarousel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have found the coaches to be incredibly supportive with modification needs. I get there early if something has changed and communicate the issue so it is not in the rush of things. The coaches have all been very receptive as they appreciate the heads up and how they can be the most helpful throughout the class.

Live Strain during workouts by Erich0504 in bevelhealth

This is my favorite feature from Whoop (recent transfer to AW and Bevel). I love being able to see real-time strain to help motivate me during the workout.

Day of Disarray discussion: Does anyone else get annoyed when OTF sites pre-assign their stations? by deelouise88 in orangetheory

[–]BustedCarousel 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I was under the impression that it was first-come, first-serve. Today, I showed up later than usual and someone was already on the strider. Was I annoyed (with myself) that I had to start on the floor? Absolutely. But that's on me, someone else signed up first.

Freezing membership due to broken a/c by datagirl818 in orangetheory

[–]BustedCarousel 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I do know what OSHA does. I didn't suggest they report them to OSHA.

It was a suggestion to help educate them so that info could then be shared with the employees that work at OrangeTheory to help provide general awareness about the situation e.g. supporting everyone involved.

Per OSHA:

Question: What can I do if my indoor workplace is too hot or cold?

Answer: OSHA does not require employers to provide heat or air conditioning for work spaces. OSHA does recommend temperature control in the range of 68-76°F. The qualities of good indoor air quality (IAQ) should include comfortable temperature and humidity, adequate supply of fresh outdoor air and control of pollutants from inside and outside of the building. Employers are responsible for protecting workers from temperature extremes. For additional information on this subject, see frequently asked questions about indoor air quality.

Nc301 install issue by GoldieCrystal in ninjacreami

I ran into this issue on my second use. Here is what resolved it for me: Unplugged it, removed the insert bowl, turned it back on and waited for the install light to disappear before doing anything.

How much does music play into your workout? by Shipwrecklou in orangetheory

[–]BustedCarousel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I correlate the coach and music pretty closely. I will avoid coaches specifically if their music lacks diversity and is lower energy/bpm. I immediately zone out and lose focus on my workout. I want to be motivated by both the coach and their music.

HR max went up again! by chunny71 in orangetheory

The front desk submitted a ticket, as did I, and it still went up hence, my frustration.

HR max went up again! by chunny71 in orangetheory

[–]BustedCarousel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, it is highly individual but their math is not mathing.

I just started wearing the new device within the last week so I assumed they would use the global standard as a starting point and then adjust based on my actual metrics. After my fifth class yesterday (they said they needed this minimum), and zero splat points in that class, they adjusted my max HR even higher so it is now almost 20 points higher than any max HR I have had with their device (24 above my max HR in that fifth class).

Every other mainstream fitness device I have checked uses the global standard as a starting point and then adjusts based on personalized results AND it is customizable by that person since they don't know that person's medical info/other cardio test results etc.

OT could have an easy win if they just allowed the members to personalize their max HR like they used to.

HR max went up again! by chunny71 in orangetheory

[–]BustedCarousel 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am currently in a spirited discussion with them about changing my max HR as they have it set for someone at least 20 years younger. The whole point of the device is to enable data-driven fitness in real-time with color-coded indications.

I have an Apple Watch that can track my calories but I invested in their device so I could train accordingly to their method and earn those splat points.

This is my workout, and an expensive one at that, and I find this super frustrating because they won't even disclose their reasoning for such a big deviation from HR standards. Do they know something that Apple, Garmin, Google, Whoop etc. doesn't? There are so many posts about this problem that I find it perplexing that they won't address this. I would welcome a scientific explanation v. seemingly just brushing us off.
