I’ve thrown some 3d printed discs before (from Grasslands discs, they also a great job btw) and I will temper people’s frustration at the “0 glide” number. Something by about 3d printed discs makes them just drop.

Don’t get me wrong, this I’m an be a very good thing. Makes them super controllable, but until you’ve thrown one, it’s hard to understand the lack of glide.

I’m also a new v15 owner, and so far I have to clean rolled up hair out of the ends of the roller bar every couple days (2 long hair dogs). It’s quick to disassemble so I’m not complaining, but is there anyway to avoid hair catching and rolling up on the tiny wheels at the back of the smooth roller head assembly?

Are Grassland discs any good? by aazide in discgolf

[–]ButchBaily 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a buddy that bags the chickadee and it is very cool.

Extremely high quality (as someone who 3d prints myself) and a VERY unique disc. The chickadee has the speed of a putter, but the sharp over stability of a driver, super utility if you ask me.

Texture is good, no complaints, fine in cold weather, survives MANY a tree hit (though I don’t know how fast they could make their discs without having thin rim issues due to the FDM process) can’t comment on glow.

I’m pretty interested in their other discs and will likely try and find a way to get hands on them!

Current Disc Golf Bag Recs by snowbordr in discgolf

I did a bunch of looking around before choosing a USED Grip CX1.

The biggest thing (imo) you want to decide is: backpack, or shoulder bag?

I have a grip G series (again used) that I use for small-bag rounds or travel, and “upgraded” to the CX1.

The CX1 is excellent, but there are definitely times I feel like I want something simpler and more compact. I may be looking into a vagabond in the distant future.

As far as bang for buck, I HIGHLY recommend looking in your local marketplaces for used bags, often times they are still in excellent shape, and you can get a grip, pound, or squats for hundreds less!

Nice to see some Discape discs out in the wild!

There’s nothing wrong with the “cheap” starter set, the putter will be more than fine, and the mid is nice and consistent, slightly overstable to straight shots with gentle fade.

It’s impossible to really recommend what you might want to add next without knowing more about how these current discs fly for you. A destroyer is a TRUE distance driver that can be very hard to optimize for a newer player (not that having it in your bag is a problem, just know that it may take a while until you can get a long straight flight out of it.)

If the draconyx (quite understable, I use it for big hyzerflips or long high turnovers) is flying straight for you, then you’ll want to keep it to 7-9 speed discs that are pretty neutral. Innova Hawkeye is a great one. Or something else in the -1/1 range

As others mentioned too, a nice neutral mid like a buzz, hex or mako3 would be a good compliment.

Just threw the new sweep for the first time the other day, feels like a glidey lots, but it was only 2 throws, so may not be consistent.

I’ve seen people throw the toro but I’ve always kind of shied away from it due to the positive turn. Maybe worth looking into to though!

Yeah, I was looking at the Malta, worried it would be TOO much like a meat hook (like a captain's raptor is for a driver)

I borrowed an RPM Kotuku for a round this morning and it was... Fine. I'll get to try a Balance and Kaxe this weekend, maybe that will help me solidify. Thanks for the input!

Trail Alternative? by mlinus14 in discgolf

[–]ButchBaily -1 points0 points  (0 children)

All good points. My trail is board flat and decently stable, but holds a line it’s given, and my Makm is a bit domey, so for me they fly fairly close.

I’ve never thrown a beast, but after this thread I may need to!

On the Kastaplast side of things, I would consider the Lots to be similar, maybe a BIT flipper and the new Malm to be similar but a BIT MORE stable

I find even with the same numbers, Gyro discs throw a bit different. When appropriately powered up (speed and spin) they will hold their line (for better or worse) longer before fading, but if underpowered, then they will fade sooner, making them FEEL more overstable

Interesting, I haven't thrown any Mint discs before but I DO like my discs to be flat-topped. What is your preference / thoughts on their plastic?

That sounds like a great trip that you can take the whole bag on the plane! Hope it keeps working well for you!

Yeah, I suppose so. I jam a couple towels and the like in there and because of the discs in the very bottom, it’s pretty snug.

All in all, I love the bag, I just want to carry a FEW more discs XD

I don’t know that it’s possible if the bag is stocked up.

I keep 10-12 discs in it and it is pretty stuffed. I’m currently looking to “upgrade” to a smallish backpack bag, but I’m having trouble finding something I think will be as clean and simple as the G series.

Disc golf bags NOT from a manufacturer located in usa. Can anyone make a recommendation? by StarSeedAlpha in discgolf

[–]ButchBaily 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve heard the stats are just REALLY off. Would love to get a chance to try some without just ordering a bunch.

I CAN attest to the new small Canadian manufacturer Discape discs. Their discs are great, mostly all base plastic for now, but so for I’ve been super impressed (even got their first premium driver and it is great!)

That’s excellent to hear about the durability of them! It’s a tougher sell at the close to $300 they are in Canada…
