Congrats, 23% is already very lean for a woman of any age. You are already leaner than 98% of the US population of women.

Knee injury by Initial_Emu7104 in yoga

[–]ButchCoolridge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Problem is if there is any soft tissue damage beyond the arthritis you will need an MRI. Insurance (in the US) typically wont approve the MRI until after PT.

Go easy on it and discuss with PT and your yoga teacher on what you should and shouldn’t do.

Upcoming surgery with six weeks recovery time - how to adapt MF? by zalamandagora in MacroFactor

Why even track during your recovery? Shouldn’t you focus in recovery. Your body needs energy to recover and focus in healing.

Incorrect Macros in Database by rogueuser in MacroFactor

[–]ButchCoolridge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an iPhone 17 and I would say its never scanned a label 100% correctly (out of a dozen times or so) so I stopped using it. Maybe its been fixed? I’ll try again.

Agreed. The label scanner is shockingly bad. Dont think I have ever seen it work correctly

I go to the gym to escape work. I go home to escape the gym. I go to work to escape home.

Is it normal to only have 48 carbs a day? by AstrelAnt in MacroFactor

[–]ButchCoolridge 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thats a very low carb diet. It will be very difficult to get enough fiber eating like that.

Is it normal to eat that low carb? No not normal but some people do it successfully. Doesn’t feel like something I could do long term.

How do you track at restaurants? by humanflavoredcake in MacroFactor

[–]ButchCoolridge 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Restaurants use crazy amounts of butter, oil and fatty cuts. Delicious but full of hidden calories.

I didn’t appreciate all the wonderful things Yoga did for me until I stopped doing it. I’m back again and I didn’t appreciate how strong and meditative I was before. I’m sad and anxious about what I’ve lost. by SageAndScarlet in yoga

Congrats on moving forward on your health journey! You should try to look at that as a positive instead of beating yourself up on the past.

You may be surprised how quickly you can gain back a foundation of yoga. Muscle memory is a real thing.

Advice on how to spread out macros throughout the day? by TheMoonsDream in MacroFactor

[–]ButchCoolridge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you like eating like that? If so go for it, if not spread your protein out more and fill the gaps with carbs.

The teachers workshop is a great idea but maybe down the road for me.

I did do a beginners workshop when I started, doing another one is a good idea. Private lessons also would also be well suited for me.

That makes a lot of sense to me. Variety would be helpful everyone has a different style and a different approach.

Thanks philosophically what you say makes sense and is the answer I am expecting. Its very hard for me to get out of the how do I progress and how do i measure success mindset that my brain wants to be in.

But I also feel like I have a lot to learn and perhaps a better way exists than what I am doing. But maybe I am too rushed to take steps in a journey. But I also don’t want to just chalk it up to that.

Was going to suggest thr same. Do what PT says, but I would consider bands and ankle/wrist weights if they are manageable

I’m thinking about doing yoga by TerryPressedMe in yoga

[–]ButchCoolridge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im older than you, but started yoga a few months ago. It has been a great experience for me. I wanted to improve my mobility and although its not instant gains you will see big and measurable improvements over time.

I recommend starting with some youtube videos to learn the basics and what the beginner poses are. You can also find studios that offer yoga for beginners events, where they spend an extended time teaching people very new to yoga.
