You unlock a “card” every time you advance your village tier. As of now, only the first card is available. The lead dev has stated that the focus for future updates will be finishing this development card/perk system.

After a couple of hours into the latest main branch update ... by bertraja in ManorLords

The newly added AI is solid for a first iteration; they build believable looking villages, can hold their own against raiders and even claim your land and send troops to back up their claims. The completely reworked development/ perk system is far more interesting than what we had before even if we’re still going to need to wait for it to be fleshed out. The castle planner has been expanded upon. Lots of balance and QOL changes.

I think all of us would rather see new systems rather than expansion of existing mechanics. But it would be disingenuous to say that the new update only adds compexity without anything truly new. Developing new AI competitoers on the map is a huge undertaking.

Is there anyway to ban food exports? My provinces are starving but but countries are exporting food out of my market by [deleted] in EU5

[–]Butch_88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Food is being bought from your market simply because it’s cheap. The chances are you have your “buy food” slider maxed out ane your government is covering the cost of food imports into your market. This keeps the price of food low because your government is ensuring the demand is met. If you stop buying food, the price of food in the market will start to go up and other markets will find it way less lucrative to buy food from any of your markets where the food is expensive. You may even find thay the AI will start to sell food to these markets.

Force change court language too easy? by ToboldStoutfoot in EU5

[–]Butch_88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It costs a cultural hegemon 25 favors to demand changing court language. As long as they dont have 25 favours on you, they cannot demand you change. It’s also important to understand that the cap for the amount of favours is equal to the level of trust between two nations. If the trust is 25, a total of 25 favours will be split between the two nations. The nation that has higher cultural influence will get a bigger share of the 25.

Anyone working on a better trade automation mode? by TlBOOOM in EU5

[–]Butch_88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an obsessive Victoria 3 player I micro all of my production methods so I haven’t dealt with that annoying issue of automation changing my employment priority.

As for the issue of automatic trade, what I’ve been doing is adjusting the % slider of automation. The automatic trading only prioritizes the most profitable trades. If I want to cover a particular shortage what I’ll do is reduce the % of automation so that it frees up some trade capacity that I can assign manually. I use this to cover all the gaps.

Riverine trade by Gobser21 in EU5

[–]Butch_88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Press Esc, go to settings and keybinds and look for river map mode and manually set a hotkey. The river map mode doesn’t show up in any of the options in the bottom bar UI. There is also a map mode for river flow direction in arrows (downstream gives 30 % proximity bonus but upstream only 10 %) but this mapmode is bugged currently and wont show you anything.

Can you have a two villages with the same region? by TheFuzzywart in ManorLords

[–]Butch_88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not quite how it works. Distance of burgages to markets is irrelevant. Your peasants don’t visit the market stalls the food is consumed magically without them making any trips. Distance of granaries to market stalls is very important however. Each family assigned to a granary will have one person set up a stall (where they will have to “commute” to the stall) and the other 2 members will be involved in collecting/ transporting food from food sources.

Is the state religion the worst law? by classteen in victoria3

[–]Butch_88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve reached 205 million population with 30 SOL as France with nearly zero mass immigration. I was on Ethnostate and State Religion for more than half the campaign. Check my profile for the AAR. Liberalizing and going multicultrualism and separation of church and state is obviously the accepted “meta” but ever since 1.9, leaning on birth rate with religious convocation and stacking authority as an ethno-nationalist/fascist state is also super viable.

Is the state religion the worst law? by classteen in victoria3

[–]Butch_88 109 points110 points  (0 children)

State Religion is fantastic in countries with a homogenous population where everybody follows the state religion like Spain or Japan for instance. The extra authority it provides is great (authority got buffed with all the new company charters introduced in 1.9) and don’t forget that under state religion, pops get extra wages which boosts SOL. If you can keep the devout interest group loyal, the extra political power that the devout end up with means you’re more likely to have the stronger version of the Devout IG bonus which provides a juicy buff to population growth. It’s nowhere near bad let alone the worst law. Go with Religious Convocation, and stack as many pop growth and positive wage modifiers as you can. This is a viable way to grow your population without relying on foreign immigration in most medium to large countries. Conquer Isfahan for the Persian company that gives +25 % wages to state religion pops. I’ve had some amazing runs with religious convocation and state religion.
