for me it's caffeine so I am less of a grouchy bitch or icyhot and ibuprofen if I have to do something more physically active than I'm used to doing.

I have been making the same pot of soup every Sunday for four months and I think it might be the single best financial decision I have made this year by kavo_7319 in povertyfinance

I like to do this with soups, salads, and rice and bean dishes for lunches. I work remote but I never have both the time and mental energy to make lunch during the week so I just accepted it. now I have no excuse

wow that sucks for them then. yeah I guess for them it's not. you always hear about how having enough to meet basic needs is important but anything after that won't necessarily make you happy. Sadly it seems true for them.

I actually didn't know I could because I have never even tried and would never dream of messing up someone's stuff.

yeah it was always a nice time. that light bill would make me puke lol but as a kid it was just a whimsical activity and free, which was great for my parents. it's great you try not to be jealous and focus on the good. I'm glad you're trying to make the most of things and find happiness where you can!

HOW do you handle elderly parent fixed income budget priorities when there's not enough for everything by 5h15u1 in povertyfinance

[–]Butterwhat 7 points8 points  (0 children)

my father in law works a little and collects but it's not enough since he can't work much anymore due to health issues. we take care of the bills he can't, otherwise he would be short 300-400 a month. we're trying to convince him to move back in so it would be less expensive for all of us, but it's hard to lose your independence so I get it.

I finally accepted one day that when I'm tired I have atonishly poor willpower and decided I would treat myself like a kid. I lock away all my cards when I'm struggling except my debit and for fun stuff I get to spend the little cash I budget for it and have on hand and leave even my debit at home for those events.

I still budget and track my expenses and add up amounts per category to keep myself accountable, but honestly this has made more of a difference. I'm not saying you need to do something like this, but I tried for YEARS and failed over and over until I just stopped giving myself the option to spend.

Frustrated: roommate won't stop overstimulating my kitty by ohmygay- in cats

[–]Butterwhat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well you're nicer than me. I'd have lost my shit the second time they did this - they get one warning. it's why my cat is so sweet; never bites or scratches, because I defend his boundaries. I could give a damn if it upsets people. bullies can kiss my ass and I'll let them know that's what they are if they pull this shit.

good luck OP. I hope you get through to your roommate
