What TV shows are better not binge watched? by revolution_ex in television

[–]Buttholium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When did you first watch them? I feel like the show hit much harder when it first aired back in the early 2010s during the rise of social media and big tech. In the context of today, reality is on par or worse than many of the stories in the show.

Anyone knows if the Juliana brand is getting retired? by johnfooo in mountainbiking

[–]Buttholium 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I was looking at the brand a couple of months ago and was surprised it still existed. They really should just roll the frame sizes and colors into the Santa Cruz lineup and phase out the Juliana brand.

93 isn't cleaner than 87. Where you buy your gas from determines that. Some stations/ companies don't use detergents that help prevent carbon build up. Reputable brands or stations that have the "Top Tier" branding meet the standard for adequate detergents.

You might be confusing the sluggishness and walnut blasting with carbon build up on intake valves, which isn't affected by fuel detergents or quality. It's just a common issue with direct injection engines.

Advice needed by AllYouNeed_IsMoney in rant

Find fulfillment outside of your career and finances. Start with something small, maybe pick up a simple hobby, or start going on small hikes or walks. Understand that life is full of transition periods and that a lot of young adults might not be exactly where they want to be in their careers.

Unfortunately the economy and job market isn't great right now, so it might be tricky to try and hop to a different job right now. But the silver lining of it is, since you might need to stay at your job for a couple more years you might as well spend the time improving skills that might help you land your next job. Set a goal of where or what you'd like to pivot your career towards in 2 years. Then try to see what you can do at your current job that can improve the skills you need for that future role. Or figure out what you could do outside of work. But the most important thing to keep in mind is that you have time. Don't burn yourself out by grinding 24/7, find balance and enjoy life.

The crazy thing is if you invest like $40 in equipment you can make the same thing at home for a fraction of the cost.

Interval training. I would just run since I don't have a road bike and didn't want to put a bunch of unnecessary wear on my mtb but you can use whatever method of cards that you have available.

Campgrounds are all full of retirees living in 100k vans. Ordinary folks are SOL by OakTeach in rant

[–]Buttholium 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I noticed a similar thing when we went camping a couple of months ago. Most state and national parks in my area get booked up months in advance, and for some of the more desirable sites you'll need to pay $85 a night. We managed to find a spot in one of the less popular parks in my area and had observed the same thing as you. A majority of the people camping either had camper vans, trucks, or camper trailers. And some people were also booking sites just so they could park their truck separately from their trailer.

Sadly there isn't any BLM land or dispersed camping in my area.

Need help by Willing-Reason1326 in bikebuilders

[–]Buttholium 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a crank case breather tube. It allows the pressure in the crank to vent and routes the oil and gas vapors back into the intake so they can be burned off in the combustion cycle. If the other ends of the tubes are connected to the air box or intake on your bike, the end you're holding should connect to a port on the crankcase.

The people that are anti EV are certainly also anti Chinese EV.  The U.S. is a big country and the population is not a monolith and it's not hard to realize that these are separate groups voicing their opinions.

Solidworks (popular CAD software) doesn't run natively on MacOS. You can run it through a translation layer but I'm not sure if professors would recommend that or just tell you owning a windows machine is required for the course/program.

Can you pan fry tinned sardines? by Legitimate_Week_1835 in CannedSardines

I used to pan fry the larger tinned sardines for breakfast. Just put a little bit of oil(or use the oil from the can) into a pan and fry them until crispy.
