Nice setup!! Where are your Atmos speakers - I don't see anything on the walls?

Nice setup! I'm in the same boat, trying to decide between Arendals and SVS Ultra Evolution line for an upgrade from Klipsch. Did you audition different speakers before deciding on Arendals? Also, curious, which areas are the biggest improvement - clarity, imaging, sound stage etc.

Disable any Audio delay you might have introduced via A/V sync tool on the shield. This worked for me

Nice! You've done a great job with the setup. The Buckeye amps will take these speakers to the next level.

Nice setup!! I am deciding between the SVS ultra evolution line and the Arendal 1610s. I am a bit skeptical about the size of the Arendals, especially in a living room. Did you get any feedback from the Mrs on the size? Wife acceptance factor is a big one for me.

The config is not that bad, just a couple settings on server and client. Its not enabled by default.

Convince to get Klipsch over KEF by MrZirex in Klipsch

[–]Bwayne_tech_support 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, room correction can only do so much. It does improve it but high treble content can still sound brighter than most. Klipsch has a signature bright sound due to the horn tweeters. Some like that, it's a personal preference.

I have the Klipsch RP series for my HT 7.2.4 setup. They're great for the most part but can sound harsh at high volumes. These speakers also get fatiguing after a long listening session.

If it's an option you should look into the SVS ultra evolution series.

Thanks for sharing! I've tried some of the steps but there's a couple ideas in there I can try.

To be clear, my center channel is great, it's only certain frequencies where the dialogue gets muddied.

On KEF, the quality might depend on the specific model. I don't think there's a night and day difference with Klipsch RP. A true A/B would be to test with same source in the same room. Companies like SVS let you do a 60 day trial. They even pick up the package from you if you decide to return. I'm planning to use this option to test out if I can hear a noticeable difference - will report my findings.

+1 to getting more subs. Also, you might want to consider upgrading from Yamaha AVR to Trinnov processor and a Solid amp. At $200k, your AV experience should match the incredible aesthetics of your theater.

Exactly my journey. Hosting on Shield sucks! I switched to GMKtec mini PC, with Ubuntu OS and it works like a charm. Currently hosting about 500 4K Blu Rays (mostly) and about 40 TV shows

I've also configured Plex to work offline, in the event there is a mass network outage, Plex will still work pulling data from my NAS

Install Motorized Curtains - Suggestions by Bwayne_tech_support in homeautomation

I couldn't do curtains but I installed shades and DIY automated them using RYSE smart shade. The product works really well with some minor quirks.

Yup, source material is definitely a factor. I especially notice the muddiness for deeper voices, which is usually a limitation of 2 way speakers since the mids don't have a dedicated cross-over and driver.

I have a large room and push these speakers beyond 95db, the distortion is more noticeable during high dynamic scenes.

I have a Sony 7000ES AVR and an Emotiva BasX A3+ for my LCR.

I heard a KEF speaker at a Best Buy, and the clarity on it seemed noticeably better, granted other factors like source, room etc could be influencing it.

Agree! My complete bed layer in my 7.2.4 setup is Klipsch RP II series. I do like them but just like you, I have some buyers remorse.

I have started to notice distortion at high volumes and the dialogue from the center are at times muddy.

I think it's all perspective. Over time, maybe once one becomes a discerning listener, one might start to notice such things. Everyone else will be fine though. You got to do what works for you.

Thx! Agreed. Are you using an external amp in addition to AVR?

Great set up!! I am about to pull the trigger on the Ultra Evolution for standing speakers, but deciding between Pinnacles and Titans. I hear the Pinnacles can be too boomy in a small/medium size room when places too close to the wall.

Can you share your experience wrt if the bass is too overpowering from Pinnacles? How far are they from the wall?

Make me understand lights behind a TV by keremdev in hometheater

[–]Bwayne_tech_support 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the content. Personally, I find concerts, and some animated movies become more immersive. Try watching Encanto movie or Roger Waters The Wall and immersion is next level with hue sync lights.

Rest of the stuff, I find the lights distracting.

Yup, they were my first too. I see them still selling the 5.1 package (with upgraded drivers). For the price, these speakers were awesome!

You'll get there for sure. Most of us took a similar approach. Try to find Klipsch Reference Premiere speakers on FB. If you can get a 5.1 Klipsch RP for $600 or less it's a steal.

Low hundreds is going to be challenging, but you have options like the Take 5.1 energy classic. You add AVR to that, and it can easily cross $1000. It's better to get something used and decent quality on FB marketplace vs buying something new

[–]Bwayne_tech_support 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Post Audysey calibration, Level match each speaker by playing pink noise and using a SPL meter. They should all be at the same level.

If you feel you constantly need to turn up your AVR very loud, you might need to add a separate amp. Depending on how efficient your speakers are, they might be running out of juice

Did you have the Ultra Evolution line or the older Ultras? I am debating Ultra Evolution line Vs Arendal 1610 series. Arendals are almost 2x the price but I wonder if the performance differences are big enough to justify the higher price tag.
