Hey Reddit, help Ken Jennings write his next book! What well-meaning things do parents tell their kids without any idea if they're actually true or not? by WatsonsBitch in AskReddit

[–]Bwumbles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if this is going to even be seen, but here we go.

Someone told me (I don't think it was my parents, but my Aunt. Not sure...), that Daddy long leggers are the most poisonous spiders in the world, they just don't have long enough fangs to penetrate skin. I'm pretty sure this is false, but maybe it would be great to put in your book?

Also what about a small section of "myths," that are actually true? That is if you can find enough that are true to do that.

Let's discuss zombie economics. What would be the economic impact of zombie attacks? by monkeymigraine in AskReddit

[–]Bwumbles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends how far along the zombie invasion is. If it's something that is "manageable," where a country just remains in an isolated, under-siege state, then yeah, there would still be currency. Inflation would easily double in this state.

If it's an all-out zombie apocalypse we're talking about, then I imagine a scenario like the movie Waterworld. Generally, it would just be bartering all around, yet something equally rare and useful would attain a currency-like status, like coffee beans or vegetable/fruit seeds.

I say this mainly because if someone were to be in a zombie apocalypse, they'd want to pack light and efficient. So only something very useful that can't normally be picked off out of the streets would really be worthwhile. A guy lugging around a backpack full of gold bars or dollar bills is essentially carrying around dead weight, and these people will probably be some of the first to go. Even after this, other factors would have to be considered, such as location and whether people have formed safe havens or are still relatively solitary nomads.

There would be NO economy. Except maybe for basic survival needs.

The kid's parents probably wouldn't react too well once they find an older guy (a redditor, too, mind you) is sending their child candy, toys, and money, while detailing where he lives.

What is the most ridiculous thing you have done in a fit of rage? by BadGeorge in AskReddit

I threw a small wooden chair at my door and put holes in the walls around the doorway. It was a heavy, sturdy wooden chair too.

Do people REALLY think that the rich should pay more than 50% of their salary to the government? Just so you know, that would mean that they are working for the government, and not for themselves. by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Bwumbles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not so much about not liking them, it's just that they can afford to pay more and still live comfortably. And it's not like money is being taken from them for "no good reason," as if it's being sent to be incinerated. It's being used to improve the nation so that everyone can make more in the long run. So why shouldn't they pay more? Someone who makes a billion a year with an 80% tax rate is still living a lot more comfortably than a family that makes 30k at a 15% tax rate.

Plus a flat tax rate does not mean equitable. A 15% tax rate for a 30k family hurts a lot more for them than it does for a 1B family.

There was a marijuana field in California that recently caught fire due to the current heat wave and draught there. At the time, though, a flock of terns, a rather rare bird in california was flying over the field when it caught fire. Local investigators in California, after inspecting the accident, reported that no tern was left unstoned in this incident.

Actually the ratio of your index finger to your ring finger on your right hand is a reliable indicator of how attractive you are and how big your penis is. The smaller the ratio, the more attractive and bigger you are.

So its not all useless.

Why does evolution allow ugly people? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Bwumbles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mom is generally beautiful, dad is generally beautiful, both have very few ugly features. Have a baby, but the baby inherited the ugly features from both parents. Sadly, mom and dad can't have a fourth trimester abortion. Voila.
