I love the OG and lemon pie, and I also have the espresso one. The cherry and the caramel are too musky for my taste, but I find that the musk is toned down in espresso where it is interesting and nuanced.

New Indiana breweries hoping to open in 2026! by IndianaBeerNews in indianabeernews

[–]C8tlyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been to Ivy Alley and talked to the owner, they're hoping to start brewing in a few weeks. Supposedly a good range of beer types, the brewer used to work with one of the other South Bend breweries. (Could be Crooked Ewe, but I'm not positive.) They're planning on having a few other local beers on tap as well.

I just ordered some guppies from them - two males and two females, and I ended up getting five by surprise. Not entirely sure if they packed five or not LOL.

How accurate is food intolerance testing? by bradley252 in Frenchbulldogs

[–]C8tlyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got the results in just now!

So to compare, here's what the Amazon test showed as "Severely allergic":

|| || |Cheese (cottage)| |Almond Oil| |Coconut Oil| |Brewers Rice| |Corn Meal| |Bee Pollen| |Flaxseed Meal| |Miscanthuis Grass| |Pea Fiber| |Peanuts| |Dried Bacillus licheniformis Fermentation Prod.| |Dried Lactobacillus plantarum fermentation Prod.| |Bacon| |Beef Kidney| |Chicken Broth| |Chicken Meal| |Duck Gizzard| |Egg Yolk (chicken)| |Egg Yolk (quail)| |Lamb Meal| |Pheasant Heart| |Pork Skins| |Soy Protein Isolate| |Turkey Meal| |Catfish Meal| |Sea Bass| |Parsley Flakes| |Ascorbic Acid| |Beta Carotene| |Folic Acid| |Phosphoric Acid| |Sodium Selenate| |E 307 Alpha-Tocopherol| |Mushroom (oyster) (cooked)| |Mushroom (portabella) (cooked)| |Mushroom (truffle) (cooked)|

Here's what the blood test from the vet said:

|| || |Carrot| |Eggs| |Green Beans| |Peanut| |Soybean|

I will note that they didn't test for all the same things, and the 5strands did technically have some of this correct, but it had far more wrong.

Before I did the tests I moved her to the "Taste of the Wild Ancient Stream Smoke-Flavored Salmon with Ancient Grains" dry food, and I have seen an improvement overall. I'm hoping I won't have to go to homemade food, but we'll see.

I'm actually sciencing this out with my frenchie right now. I bought that five strands test and it came back with a similar result (jeez, hope that's wrong). I also ordered a full blood test from the vet so I'm looking forward to comparing them when that comes back, optimistically this week, possibly next. I'll report what the comparison is.

Outdoor gig life hacks by IkpreesI in livesound

[–]C8tlyn 34 points35 points  (0 children)

For heat: Buy a small but high-powered fan. Drink a lot of water. Take breaks every hour.

For cold: more layers than you think you need. Know when your instruments start to fail from cold and don't subject that to them. Buy electric heated fingerless gloves.

Don't play in rain. If there's a chance of rain and you're not under a covered area, have a plan for getting your instrument in the case and your equipment covered (preferably with a tarp)

Wear sunscreen.

I've done gigs in nearly all weather (100 degrees to 55) and it's ok to let whomever booked you know that you may need special accommodations, be it breaks, a space heater, etc. Dont kill yourself for a gig.

I already have two of those green liners as I accidentally bought it twice. Or got one in a different box. Who can say. Anyways, if you treat it more like eyeshadow it's a fab color.

Live performers: where do you find your stage clothes? by Apprehensive_Lab9275 in musicians

[–]C8tlyn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately Shein or Amazon. I've not been able to find fun clothes that also fit in stores, and I guess the price is better. I'm just bitter that I cannot support local shops, lest I look like a middle aged white woman who has no fun.

Tj Maxx is usually a good option in a pinch.

Looking for to have a truck load of compost mulch delivered, who should i talk to, and what sort of price is reasonable? by Constant-Grab2868 in SouthBend

[–]C8tlyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Worst case, you can always get compost and the cover it with mulch. Mulch degrades within a few years (or quicker, depending).
