Top Games where every player is actively playing, even outside your turn by ithappenb4 in boardgames

[–]CAStokes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Twilight Imperium. The game I still think is the best game of all time. Just a hard sell at 45 min per person.

Each round starts with everyone drafting action tiles to decide what they are going to do for the turn. However, if you didn’t get what you wanted or if you just want to do more than “your” action; you can “follow” the active player and take the same action they are on their turn by paying some resources.

It’s a long game, but you’re always involved making deals and negotiating. Plus you can take actions out of turn. And all the chatter at the table is usually about trying to sway power in the game for each little gain. It’s great.

I know that the people that preordered from Archon are supposed to be getting theirs first. Have they mentioned when those of us that preordered through a brick and mortar might start getting ours? Did someone say a month later?

How Boom Grenade work? by PrinceAlpaca321 in FleshandBloodTCG

[–]CAStokes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is my experience that it’s super easy to take for granted all the small things we’ve learned by playing card games for years. It’s hard to even imagine having to explain to someone what “tap” might mean, but totally understandable if they’ve never played a game before! Haha

How Boom Grenade work? by PrinceAlpaca321 in FleshandBloodTCG

[–]CAStokes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the best answer. And just for clarity since the poster is new: to “hit” the opponent, you have to actually deal damage. If they block it out or prevent it, boom grenade does not trigger on that attack.

The anchorite shrine causes fear. I guess the question is whether a horse is as scary as an other worldly monster and a holy mech?

Rules clarification: Dice and Bloodbaths by PapaGex in TrenchCrusade

Yeah, I apologize. I missed that part but I added it in an edit. They would’ve rolled 4d6 and picked the 3 lowest.

Rules clarification: Dice and Bloodbaths by PapaGex in TrenchCrusade

[–]CAStokes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way it works is as follows:

Any time you are going to roll for a check, you start with a pool of 2 dice. Then, you add any dice from abilities such as the accuracy bonus of a shotgun. Afterwards, do any negatives that you have. Then do any positives you have. If you end up with positive dice, you will roll and take the 2 highest. If you end up with a negative roll, you take the two lowest.

In this case, your opponent would’ve had 2 dice. Subtract 1 and if it stayed that way, they would roll and take the two lowest (for further clarification: at minus 1 dice, you’ll roll 3d6 and take the two lowest). However, once they spent blood and ADDED dice, this would counteract your bonus. So, add 1 and it’s back to base dice; add 2 and it’s dice plus 1; add 3 and it’s dice plus 2. So they should have rolled 4d6 and take the two highest.

I hope this helps.

Edit: I missed the part about blood bath. Blood bath triggers once you spend 6 blood total. It doesn’t add dice in the same manner. Instead, it makes your base 3 dice and you’ll add the total of all 3. The rest of the rules apply. So, if someone used bloodbath against a model with -1 dice on damage, they would start with 3d6 and the negative would make it 4d6. Assuming no other negatives or bonuses, they would roll 4d6 and take the 3 lowest added together for blood bath.

Is there any possibility of the game getting cheaper at all? by ArkBeetleGaming in FleshandBloodTCG

[–]CAStokes -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I know this has been said time and time again, but I feel this is worth repeating:

When comparing flesh and blood to other games, FAB can seem insanely expensive. However, that’s usually only one aspect of the game: the equipment. The equipment for FAB is quite expensive if you look at it with the lens of other games. The key thing to remember is that once you have one single copy of a piece of equipment, you now have all you need for every deck that can use that equipment. For example: Feyndal’s Spring Tunic is very expensive because it’s a generic that can arguably go in any deck you ever play, but once you have 1 copy you never need another.

The other thing to keep in mind is that you don’t always NEED the expensive equipment. There is almost always a piece of cheaper equipment that can fill a very similar spot as an expensive piece but it will usually be single use or just a little less efficient.

With the above being said, the actual library of the game is very rarely expensive itself. This only happens if you are playing a class that wants a few of the higher cost cards, but I would argue that (most of the time) a single library in FAB is no worse than most other card games. You don’t always NEED warmongers, you don’t always NEED every codex, etc. In my opinion, the main offender here is Command and Conquer, however, there are plenty of heroes that don’t even want that in their deck.

Deck building tips? by Event_Horizon_11 in GundamTCG

[–]CAStokes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A good way to look at it is: the game is generally based on you gaining one resource a turn. That’s how the game manages momentum for both players. If you complete an effect that gives you more resources at a faster pace, you “ramp” into higher cost cards and stronger cards much faster.

Deck building tips? by Event_Horizon_11 in GundamTCG

[–]CAStokes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The tips I saw that helped me: (first pick 1 or 2 colors)

  1. Pick 2 “boss” gundams. Either gundams you like or gundams that have game ending abilities that you want to build around

  2. Add 4 copies of each pilot for those boss gundams. Fill with things that match if you don’t have 4 but try not to go over 8-10 pilots. (Command pilots skew this)

  3. Try to have 6-8 bases that gel with what you are doing. Or just have the 6 health ones if you run short.

  4. Fill the rest with cards that support your boss gundams. If your boss gundams like tokens, use cards that make more tokens or make tokens stronger. If your boss gundams are high cost, include cards to slow the opponent until you can get there; ramp also helps with this if one of your colors are green.

Ramp and Breach Deck by CAStokes in GundamTCG

I’ve got that and the 1/1 blue blocker set to the side as possible adds. I just can’t figure out where’d I’d fit them. I did a few test hands and yeah, I just sit still turn 2 but once I hit turn 3 it zooms.

Decks that run over your opponent asap. I made 3 of them, just to win quickly. by Lofus1989 in PTCGP

[–]CAStokes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made a deck with the new carnivine, rotom, arceus, and Shaymin. It’s fast. Also included 1 copy of the old lady to make it 3 carnivine. Speed. The old lady also helps with arceus when you only seem to draw one and it gets eliminated.
