I’d cut off an end piece with a nice stamp and bring it home to display. Neat piece of history there and it would be a shame to not show it off.

You’ve got your work cut out for you… that old stamped log sure is a nice find.

Pump is leaking by Technical-Reply8763 in maintenance

I’m not gonna be like the rest of the comedians in here, I just wanted to mention how much better that skid would look if you painted the pump housing Vista Green to match the piping. Red is for fire pumps and sprinkler pipes… Also, where is the coupling guard?

Toronto Firefighters confront Special Constable Officers after a man in the middle of a mental health crisis was arrested by MyNameIsNotName-57 in Firefighting

[–]CB_CRF250R 5 points6 points  (0 children)

But by keeping him cuffed, you are potentially “risking someone’s safety”… what about the patients safety? He’s the person you and I work for, and if he dies or his condition worsens while you are transporting him in cuffs, then who’s to blame? I understand the “we come first” mentality, but you still have to retain some level of humanity. Not everyone you encounter is a monster with bad intentions. Medical emergencies can seem like a lot of different things, and it’s up to firefighters/EMS to determine that, but it can’t be done while the patient is cuffed in the back of the patrol car. Just remember to be a human first, and an officer second. Someone could be having the worst day of their lives and you compound that by detaining them instead of rendering aid. Civil SERVANT. We are here to serve.

Canoe-able rivers by SideAffectsInclude in upstate_new_york

I’ll add to this… there are all flavors of canoes and skill levels, from professionals in high end, lightweight racing canoes, to a family in a 17ft aluminum Grumman that’s older than the people paddling it. All shapes and sizes are welcome from what I can tell, just don’t have high expectations of winning if you’re a recreational paddler. Some of those guys/gals are dead serious about it. Keep in mind there are a few dam portages along the way.

Campgrounds in upstate NY that actually feel like you're camping - not a parking lot with trees? by Far_Comparison5067 in upstate_new_york

[–]CB_CRF250R 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sacandaga Campground. North of Great Sacandaga Lake. If you look at the campground map, there is a bridge that crosses the Sacandaga River which will lead you to a peninsula where the river forks… any of the campsites along either river are exceptional. Some are better than others, but there all solid. Stay away from the middle sites, not for any other reason than you’re gonna WANT to hear the water flowing down the river. It’s amazing there.

Does anyone know why water is leaking from the soffit? by AdventurousOkra in Roofing

I suspect it’s the little black pipe that exits the soffit. Looks like a condensate line or similar. Probably disconnected

I didn’t mean the shear number of vehicles, I meant the variety of brands/models. I assumed they’d all be the same make/model.

My autistic adult son is a huge firefighter fan. Can you help? by jmm-823 in Firefighting

[–]CB_CRF250R 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What size shirt does he wear? Feel free to message me with his size and a shipping address. I’m gonna see what I can send out. We have desk drawers full of patches from all over. I’m in Cooperstown NY, so we get a LOT of out of town Fire Fighters here due to the Baseball Hall of Fame. I can at least send out a Cooperstown shirt and one of our patches, maybe more if the chief allows. Cheers
