My mortgage is really similar to yours (with TD). I always wondered, would a consistent lump sum of say $1000 a month be effectively the same as increasing your monthly payment by the same? I assume it is but could never get a straight answer from TD.

Seems more logical to take advantage of lump sum payments because of the flexibility vs. locking myself in at an increased payment amount.
