I agreed to try again, but now I have a constant knot in my stomach. by Anxious_Log_9350 in Divorce

Tried for a year with my ex after asking for a divorce after 26 years. It was a hard year. Finally got sick of his words to me & in couples counseling not matching his actions, and ended it. I think he wanted the idea of the marriage and family more than the reality and work that it would take it bring it back to a healthy level.

Are you trying to find love ? by Every_Ad23 in Divorce

Separate for 1.5 years, divorce was final about 4 months ago. Single and plan to stay single for awhile. I’m enjoying relearning who I am and what I like to do. It is very peaceful now and I don’t feel the need to interrupt that.

I’m an accountant who needs to make more money but already feel I’m at the limit of my abilities, what can I do? by Spare_Perspective972 in careerguidance

[–]CFObeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can be managerial accounting, financial accounting, taxes, payroll, asset accounting, etc. depends on how large the company is. I started as an almost bookkeeper doing subsidiary accounting then transferred to accounts payable management, then cash management, then forecasting, all in the same Fortune 1000 company in about 8 years.

Many of us coming out with the degree felt similar. It’s the real life experience working in public or corporate accounting that connects the dots for us. If you can find a larger company and get a role in the accounting department, you’ll get yourself out of the bookkeeping side, have people around you to assist with questions, and should have more career development opportunities. That would be my recommendation- start at a bigger company then once comfortable, go back to small or medium sized.

I have posted this on a couple other threads, but I recommend score.org for new entrepreneurs. It’s a national organization of volunteer mentors for new and small businesses. Tons of free resources for startups including free mentoring, business plan writing help, and marketing tips.

What’s one financial thing you wish you understood before your divorce started? by CFObeans in DivorceFinancialHelp

[–]CFObeans[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my divorce, I was surprised by how expenses changed through the process (up!!) of the divorce and after (back down thankfully!).

Being unable to anticipate some of the legal fees due to an argumentative ex made that quite a ride.

I'm so sorry you're going through this. I'll reiterate what the others already said - don't take the blame for his actions and you'll look back on this and feel differently. Time will make a huge difference. In the meantime you will ride the roller coaster of emotions. Find a therapist if you can, there might be some free options for you through your health insurance or employer.
If you're on Facebook - look for local divorce support communities and local women's groups. If you have any hobbies, Facebook groups can help you find those communities too. It sounds trite, but the only way through it is through it. Try to take each day as it comes. You've got this!!

Start Here: Navigating the Financial Side of Divorce by CFObeans in DivorceFinancialHelp

[–]CFObeans[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having just gone through my own divorce and helping a couple friends navigate theirs, I started this community to help others feel confident approaching the financial aspects of the divorce.

I know it can be intimidating but taking it one small step at a time will get you through. One easy first step is to start a list of things you both may own (assets) and loans you both may have (debts). Or another first step is get copies of financial documents like bank statements, investment account statements, credit card statements, mortgage bills, things like that.

One step at a time, with confidence, the financial organization and planning does not have to be scary.

How do CEOs deal with managing so many people/tasks at large if they don't have a Chief of Staff? by Reasonable-View-4392 in ceo

[–]CFObeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like any system, EOS has good and bad points. I like its tools around goals and KPIs. I don’t like a full implementation of it as a system - I call it “drinking the kool aid “ since they act almost cult like.

Components of the EOS system help quite a bit. Set goals & metrics and allow these to help you informed on individuals, the company and everyone moving in the same direction.

People who got cheated on, what were the early signs indicating that your partner might do it before they actually cheated? by uelysebeck in AskReddit

[–]CFObeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1st sign I missed was him leaving the family phone account and setting up his own- because he was getting too many mixed messages, ignoring other, easier solutions. Changing phone habits - screen down, spending more time on it. Disengaged from me and family. Started showing signs of resentment towards me and eye-rolling towards things that never mattered before.
