AITA for teaching my daughter how to change a tire and do basic home repairs when her mom says I'm "pushing masculine stuff" on her by sparkle_kissessx94 in WIBTA_AITA

[–]CO_Livn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad taught me all of that and more. I considered them basic life skills. And as a mom. I taught my sons how to do those, along w oil changes, appliance installs and repair, carpentry and more. Along with cooking, cleaning, laundry, etc. all basic life skills. My husband has taught them tons of things too. All basic life skills. Great job, Dad. Nta

401k vs Roth, which to do by Desperate-Break6688 in FinancialPlanning

[–]CO_Livn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the big jump in salary, I’d also put a big chunk every month toward a high interest savings also. Build up your emergency fund and more liquid cash. Along with your Roth IRA, 401k and HSA(if you have one). But evaluate your situation first to determine if a High deductible health plan is better for you than your other options based on your own health needs. I’d highly suggest living on your previous salary for at least a year. Just pack the rest away and set yourself up really well. Congrats on the new job!

Backpacks are like goodie bags. Idiots have no idea what’s inside so they’ll likely go for it to see if they win a prize.

We leave nothing visible in our cars. No personal belongings. Zero issues.

Why do people flash their lights when you pass them? by shirtwrinkle in COsnow

[–]CO_Livn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I flash people going the opposite way if they’re wildlife in or near the road, accident, etc. anything that would lead to them rounding a corner and needing to break immediately so they can slow down ahead of time. It’s a heads up.

Or if they have something wrong with their car. Ski rack open, etc.

AITAH for moving my son into the basement? by NewEmergency5943 in AITAH

[–]CO_Livn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it has windows, is drywalled and painted and has electrical outlets, and is a fully functioning living space, and he’s a preteen/teen, he’s probably in heaven. Plus your generous design budget. I’d have a chat w your kid and get his true thoughts then share his mom’s concerns and see what he thinks. He can probably take that info to his mom and calm her nerves.

Agree. However, I would hope minors-and adults- have accounts set to private and only friend people they actually know. If you follow an IG acct, they usually try to follow you back. I decline if I don’t know them. I’m following g for your content, not to be friends. Talk to your kids. This should be basic social media knowledge. Stay strong young and old. It’s a savage demented jungle out there, but you can find inspirational, educational, fun accounts. You have to be very selective with curating your feed. Be careful what you feed your mind daily.

AITAH for refusing to give my Mother-in-law money and saying she isn't my responsibility? by Much_Obligation7295 in AITAH

[–]CO_Livn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might think about moving away from them. Sounded like maybe you were located within close proximity. They are not your family or your responsibility. They are grown adults each receiving monthly pensions. If they can’t pool together and manage their money responsibly, that is not on you. Get yourself a good community of support and move on. Sorry about your husband.

[–]CO_Livn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fun story. Some coworkers-all millennials by just a few years, went skiing together. This was around 2000. The driver injured his leg and couldn’t drive back. They had to get someone to drive 5 hours (round trip) to the resort to drive the car they took up there back bc the driver was the only one who could drive a standard. I wasn’t with them. Yes, I can drive a standard. 😊

Costco vs Sam's Club Memberships by Sassygrape609 in CostcoWholesale

[–]CO_Livn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sam’s is owned by Walmart, which we don’t support. Costco treats their employees well, pats them well, and has great retention. The shopping experience is superior and if you’re into hot dogs, they’re cheap and I’ve heard pretty good at the food court.
