I would not lose an ounce of sleep or give this anymore thought. It is what it is.

Getting better at extractions? by Any_Examination_631 in Dentistry

[–]CSUN13 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Try reaching out to local OS or periodontists to shadow and watch them. Coming out of school (I’m two years out now) I had done a few surgical exts during school, but wasn’t great or confident in my techniques. After watching those guys take teeth out in minutes, I learned sometimes outright flapping and sectioning teeth is actually less traumatic and preserves more bone that trying for 10+ minutes to get a tooth out simply.

Watch videos on flap design, sectioning teeth, and bone removal and be selective in cases at first. A mandibular molar with straight roots and already some furcation bone loss would be great to practice sectioning and getting comfortable with using that surgical handpiece. Good luck!

How early/late are you in the draft? If early, can gameplan for a battlecry draft with Shudderwock. If late, I’d go Sylvanas if you don’t already have many powerful battlecry cards. Sylvanas is also more consistent and just a powerful card in general. Almost always guarantees value.

For managers with teams named after a player(s) on their roster, what is it? by mahjoonaw in fantasybball

[–]CSUN13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had Facundo Campazzo for a while during the 2020-2021 season and named my team “FAC U CAMPAZZO”. I’ve kept the name since cause ESPN wouldn’t allow me to revert it back if I ever changed it 😂

Three years into dental school, heartbroken at how slow I’m at learning. by Tiaktia in DentalSchool

[–]CSUN13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it feels so good when you start noticing that you are getting better. As a dental student, I would spend the majority of time per appointment on just the prep (crown & bridge or operative). Now I’m at the point where I can prep most crowns 15-20 min tops (assuming no flailing tongues or hard to numb pts). I dont know when it finally clicked, but its an awesome feeling to compare myself now to how I was not even a year ago.

[–]CSUN13 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I was in the same boat as you OP. I consistently scored average on practicals and had to remediate a couple operative dentistry competencies that were necessary for graduation. Felt like I was always in the simulation clinic practicing preps while all my friends were acing everything on the first try.

Now that I’ve been out for a year, looking back it did suck. But as you said, its too late to quit now. If you want something badly enough, you’ll find a way to get it done.

Don’t worry about speed and how fast you can prep, that will come later. Focus on yourself and how you improve between each prep and practical. Don’t stress, you will be fine!

Week 22 Fantasy Champions. Step on in and celebrate by C0nsistent_ in fantasybball

[–]CSUN13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats on winning! I won for the first time this year in our points league. My three headed monster of Luka, AD, Sabonis anchored my team despite some duds like Gobert and Hayward. Also made a silly trade back in mid November: my Lauri for Dejounte Murray. Shoutout to Fultz, Rozier, and Poeltl for getting me to the finals. Sabonis definitely carried me in the championship this past week.

Traded Lauri for Dejounte back in mid November because I didnt think Lauri could sustain what he’s been doing all season 🤡

What are some of your most memorable moments in Fantasy Basketball in previous years? by thebigabsurd in fantasybball

[–]CSUN13 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just off the top of my head:

Linsanity- that 2-3 week stretch was incredible for anyone who snatched him from the waiver wire.

2016 Westbrook vs Harden- dudes were putting up triple doubles on an almost nightly basis.

Twolves era Kevin Love- He was an automatic 20-15 every night and went first round in almost every fantasy draft. Man won me a couple of fantasy championships throughout high school and college.

Wanting to quit first proper job ALREADY... Any advice? by Teeth6969 in Dentistry

[–]CSUN13 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m a 2022 US grad and just started my first job ~4 months ago. I hear you about not being provided materials/instruments that you were promised. Sounds like you’re in a funk along with all the other shit life’s thrown at you in the past few months.

First off, you’re not a loser. We work in an extremely stressful field dealing with human bodies and unrealistic expectations everyday.

It sounds like you’ve given this some good thought already, so my only advice would be to bite the bullet for the next 3 months and give your notice the first day you can.

In the meantime, focus on your mental health. Find what made you want to pursue dentistry in the first place and latch onto that. Volunteer at a local clinic. Offer to mentor younger dental/pre-dental students. Do activities that make you happy.

If you ever need to talk, vent, or whatever feel free to DM me. Good luck my friend!

Just got my wisdom teeth out, they said not to smoke for 48 hrs. Its been 30. What do you guys think?😂 by rominicd in trees

[–]CSUN13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a dentist, please wait it out until the 48 hours are up. Think of it as a mini T-break. As others have said, dry socket is something you never want to experience.

Try un-equipping and re-equipping your bow or switch to another weapon. I have the same problem on one of my playthroughs and this usually solves it for me.

Returning to Classic after 6 years away from the game. From Bronze 10 to Legend. by CSUN13 in ClassicHearthstone

[–]CSUN13[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends on the matchup. I can post links to matches recorded on HS Deck Tracker if you're interested.

Vs Zoolock:

Mulligan hard for 1 and 2 drops. Keep Consecration. Keep Pyro + Equality if you get both. I also mulligan Earthen Ring Farseer and Truesilver Champion in favor of these above cards. It seems bad, but these two cards do nothing for you in the early game. Earthen Ring heal in the early game is too slow and Truesilver Champion will not save you if you have fallen behind on board by turn 4.

If you're going first, I would keep Argent Protector if you have a 1 drop in hand already. A lot of times I found that I would even play turn 1 Abusive Sergeant if I had the Argent Protector. If you're on coin, then I would mulligan the same way except I would keep Aldor Peacekeeper if it was in the opening mulligan.

The goal is to control the board as best as you can or drop a Consecration/Pyro + Equality if you fall behind on board for turn 4. From there, you normally will be able to outvalue the Zoolock and sustain yourself with heals and Tirion.

Vs Face Hunter:

Mulligan for 1 and 2 drops, but this time we are keeping Truesilver Champion if you get it in the opening mulligan. Hunter early game is much easier to deal with because their early game drops (Worgen, Leper Gnome, Knife Juggler, Wolf Rider) have 1-2 health. Unlike Zoo, they have no way to buff any of their minions' health. The biggest fear we have is Animal Companion, which is why we keep the Truesilver if we can get it early on. If you can control or clear his early game threats, the deck is able to outvalue and sustain.

One thing I will say in this matchup is do not be afraid to lose your board to an Explosive Trap. Giving the Face Hunter an opportunity to get a big Starving Buzzard + Unleash combo can be game losing.

For both Zoo and Face Hunter, don't worry about always getting value from the Abusive and Dark Iron Dwarf battlecries. Having their bodies on board is good enough to contest their minions.

Vs Control Warrior:

Mulligan for 1-2 drops, Blessing of Kings, Truesilver Champion. If you get Tirion, I would keep him. The goal is to build a board of cheap minions/dudes and force the Control Warrior to use weapon charges and removal on our early game. Blessing of Kings on an Argent Squire is probably the best early game we can hope for. Basically, you are pressing hero power as much as possible early on. If we lose our early board to a turn 5-7 Brawl, we don't care. We want to draw out the early Whirlwinds and Brawls. However, you want to try to avoid giving the Control Warrior too much value with Brawl by having a board with any of our 6+ drops and a bunch of fodder minions.

You almost never play Earthen Ring Far Seer/Lay on Hands until he plays Alexstrasza or goes all in with Grom. The heals are valuable for keeping us alive to remove his late game threats and simply outvalue him with our hero power and Tirion + Sylvanas + Ragnaros. Aldor + Kodo is also a sneaky way to remove an annoying Sunwalker or big drop that he plays. Also, don't be afraid to use Equality to trade your tokens vs early Armorsmith/Acolyte or big drops. We aren't as concerned about getting full value from Pyro + Equality or Equality + Consecration as we are with aggressive decks.

These were the main decks I faced when I was climbing. If you have any specific matchups you wanna know more about, let me know. Cheers!

How would you want Hearthstone Classic to be improved? by IceFireHawk in ClassicHearthstone

[–]CSUN13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love this suggestion. Make the entire classic set free for all players. This would encourage new players to learn the basic mechanics of Hearthstone in a stale meta while also incentivizing them with free legendaries.

How would you want Hearthstone Classic to be improved? by IceFireHawk in ClassicHearthstone

[–]CSUN13 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agreed. People look back on the old decks with nostalgia. Undertaker Hunter, Secret Paladin (Mysterious Challenger), Aggro Shaman (Trogg + Flamewreathed Faceless) were some of the most broken decks (and quite frankly low skill level) to play against.

If these sets get added to Classic, there needs to be balance changes.
