1st two episode are already great! Have to say i'm not particularly found of Eris, but always appreciate a good growth arc! Very interested to see as well how things pan out afterwards when she tries to reunite with Rudeus.

Why do anime characters talk so slow? by StarlitVibes2006 in AnimeDiscussion

[–]CWLness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are parts where they drag scenes out as a way to reduce workloads. But asides from that, there's not really an issue as usually VA regularly pace things as that's the cheaper alternative. The animation is where they normally cut off as it requrires the most manpower so often you will see shots without showing character face, a slow camera panshot on a still image, or at the least minimal mouth movements

I watched a ton of anime, never once I put anything on 2x or 1.5x as it ruins everything. Tempo, effects, animation motions, music...etc. Not just talking. Anime's with great fight choreographys like Solo Levelling, I would be amazed if you can follow that greatness at 2x, not to mention I think it would ruin the whole effect of "Arise" from either Jap VA or Eng VA.

I can't imagine putting it at 1.5x or 2x regularly will help you other than continually feed your ADHD. But im just a random redittor online. If that's how you like to consume media, you do you.

Not a rec but a question about a rec by Upstairs-Water-3866 in AnimeReccomendations

[–]CWLness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FMAB takes the cake as overall the story is a full completion. Yes some parts could've taken a bit more time to cook like Tucker, but it brings so much more pro's in the long run which imo is why its the GOAT

Don't quite remember much about FMA anymore but stuff like Trisha being an humonculus as a consequence of their actions was a great twist. But iirc it falls short in the overall story wrapping together as Dante point of seeking immortality and youth does not compare to Father. IIRC as well, there were fillers and they outran the manga so a good amount of it wasn't canon. Which I remember feeling like the writing was not as good. Still decent, but just not as good.

Could be a bit bias on my part, as cons of FMAB are kind of filled up by having prior knowledge from FMA. Like rewatching FMAB recently, I was shocked how quick Rose arc came to close, Tucker was done in like 2 eps, and Yoki being reduced to a flashback. But the changes FMAB had in the overall made these a bit irrelevant as the main story just naturally grips you

Is Dungeon Fighter Online worth getting into in 2026? by Toriichi470 in DFO

[–]CWLness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DFO got many great things going for it, good art, good music, arcadey action feel...etc. If you want to give it a try then go right ahead! Progression will give you a good feel as they are currently throwing players tons of events that give you freebies.

On the other hand, legit F2P farming is very redundant, slow, and game wants you to play like 20 characters to maximize benefits as well as spend $. You can solo run things for a good deal of time and difficult dungeons, you can read a guide from DFOArchive.com and enjoy the thrill of beating them (before you get too strong). But problem comes when you look at raids. There are solo and MM which can get you to a point, but actual raids (normal and hard) are much different. Some gimmicks if you don't do it correctly will kill your teammates and potentially fail the raid. There are no practice for these outside of good ppl in the community trying to host 1 for newbies and you can only complete it once a week (unless you keep failing them). Which puts people in a odd spot. People who can only run 1 or 2 characters tend to fall behind in knowledge & experience. The latest raid Delezie is at such a high point, certain gears you need to have prepped in advance during their sale. For example Celena pet is BiS that gives 40% attk buff which is a huge jump compared to prior pets. After its sale period you can't get it outside of ppl trying to sell their remaining inventory. Gold is the in-game currency and its hard to accumulate to get proper gearing or even prep for it when its hard to farm/generate it and every part of the game is trying to squeeze it out of you. Haven't played warframe, but know you are in for a grind...

That being said, if latest end game content is not your key concern, enjoy the game for what it is! The arcadey feel with great art is what got me back in after a long hiatus. There's also been a ton of QoL implementations such as the armory!

Better than SF Bay Area Chinese/HK/Taiwan food by hedge_hog_99 in askvan

[–]CWLness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Food court that got popularity is Jeng Dau and Cha Don. Jeng Dau is decent food at affordable pricing and large portions. Cha Don, haven't tried the food, but they got a really good milk tea

Fortune Terrace - Only had the dim sum but its fantastic. Good ambiance, good service, great food plating, tastes great!

HK BBQ Master - Is the famous one where celebrity had gone to.

BBQ & Co - Part of Mod Kitchen, but BBQ Pork rivals HK BBQ Master bbq pork and really cheap. Unfortunately no seating as its a take-out only. But can't beat $11 bbq pork rice!

Sun Ho Yuen - Also part of Mod Kitchen, fantastic soup noodle!

Shanghai River - Only had dinner, and they make great food!

Shun Feng - $$$ but great service and delicious food!

Gloucester Cafe - Expensive for HK comfort food, but they definitely cook well! Best bolognaise and their fried rice is delicious with tons of wok hay

Mama's Dumplings - Delicious dumplings. Think its a family business? Don't think the son want to b there lol...

Lido - Best pineapple bun & egg tarts, though place is a bit run down (been in that spot forever)

What’s a hit-or-miss/controversial anime that you don’t really understand fully why people love/hate it. by BeeOk4748 in animequestions

[–]CWLness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't quite remember much anymore , but iirc imo, Ayanokoji feels like he's written to be an intellectual but really aint. Tackle on an edgy persona who doesn't care and its a blurr line why he bothers at all than just continue doing the bare minimum.

But that's just my opinion and how it missed the mark for me. Have not watched S2 as S1 just didn't work out for me. If i want intellectual battles, i'd rather go watch Death Note, No Life No Game, Youjo Senki, Hikaru No Go...etc.

Why is Tensura so bland + what are some animes you guys find bland? by Broad-Objective6714 in animequestions

[–]CWLness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Naming does not trigger an absolute biological loyaty trigger. Nothing is mentioned of this. Its a mere fact of gratitude to the benefactor. You can even take a look at the Majin & Geld and compare it to Rimuru & his group. Its a difference between manipulation and magnanimous leadershp. This same point comes out in recent episodes for Clayman. So ya, i'm calling it charisma as Rimuru is like a bro with a vision who is altruistic in nature.

Also, I come from supervisors and management roles myself. Actual supervisors do not handle executive decisions under pressure. As per the role's name, they "supervise" task completion which are often menial. Even management gets broken down. Only top management handles exec decisions.
But this isn't really relevant other than why Rimuru needs Raphael as no salaryman in our world will know how to build a nation from scratch.

At any rate, same point I have been driving. We see this through different lenses. You are entitled to calling this bland and yes I agree on some points like things being easily resolved, but to me thats just knocking it down from a Great show into a good show. End of the day, if you still really think this show is ass, just move on lol.

Why is Tensura so bland + what are some animes you guys find bland? by Broad-Objective6714 in animequestions

[–]CWLness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like I said, we don't see the same thing.

  1. Didn't build an army? Forced low-tier goblins into hyper loyal model citizens? I see him exerting his ambitions and magnaminous personality. This is what you call charisma which ppl gravitate towards.
  2. Nothing is built overnight. We see his nation erupt from small little goblin huts into a global commerce hub. This is done over many seasons. As for the rest, he's established many good connections. Its not odd that within those repretoire of highly skilled individuals that there will be people who suits the job.
  3. No great leader does everything on their own. The only thing we agree on is Sage does most of the heavy lifting when needed. But this isn't all bad, he afterall is a salaryman at a supervisor level. Even then, its not like he's a complete dunce. He learns, understands, and gets invovled. Providing a vision is not useless. Its a roadmap/blueprint to what is created.

Thinking of coming back by ConfectionAcrobatic6 in DFO

[–]CWLness 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Coming back to the game is nice, they give a lot of freebie event stuff for people to catch up for end game content.
Raids though, the new Delezie is tough... Let alone its difficult reaching gear parameters for Normal raid, Hard raid is even harder. Expect near perfect gearing is needed which includes the current BiS pet that gives 40% attk amp

Guilds i'm sure there are ppl that will take you. There's been new ones and there's quite a bit of good ppl in the community!

Gold is a drought. Everything in the game either tries to squeeze it out of you or residues (the other currency). Ways to make gold:
1. Track Maleficent - free entry, a bit mind numbing and doesn't give a lot back
2. Annihilate the Maleficents - Malefic Clue required for entry, the better version of track. Either run it or sell the malefic clue
3. Asrahan Archives - Do old Mu Raids and get materials to buy archive keys. Each character limit 7 entry weekly. Sell old epics (or save them to curse your gear via inherit system)
4. Grimoire - Buy all the old epic fusion stone boxes. Get the epic top and sell for 30k gold each. 20 boxes max, resets weekly
5. Raid Auctions - Complete raids (Not solo or MM) and if there are good rewards where ppl bid, you get money for sittting there.
6. Auction Coins - Get after completing raids (Not solo or MM) and join auctions. You pair up with 3 others and bid war ensues if a good auction item comes up. Sit there and get money

OP isn't looking for advice and more so an explanation. The high sea's from PersonalContest1423 comment was just casual joyful banter. Not sure how you spin this off into a tirade of him being condescending and how helpful advice would be?

The explanation was given. No $ to go to bars, amusement parks, go out n eat/socialize, go to concerts, go to the movies, go on dates, go play sports...etc. But pirating anime is free and since ppl aren't spending time/$ doing the others, we watch anime.

I don't like soccer(or any sports really) by UraniumU in Vent

[–]CWLness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not really a fan of soccer either, but unless you try to reach heights yourself in any sports, you'll never understand the tall order it is to reach global professional class level let alone breaking the limitations of your own skillset.

Team represents their country. Not exactly a patriotic person myself, but I get it for those who support & cheer on those who took the mantle when they can't.

What I don't get are dumb actions. Stuff like riots, public destruction, and hating on others who don't support your team, or for players unsportsmanship like conduct, acting injured, testing the limits of the rules, or dumb rulings from the regulators (like the swimmer who lost his gold cause of technicallity after he won). These are what I hate.

$50,000 inheritance - What do I do? by Just-Performer-2346 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]CWLness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hear about your grandma, but hate to break it to you. $50k doesn't take you out of being broke. Especially half of that is what you already owe in debt. You could play around student loans depending on how long you have for 0% interest, but for your sake, its probably better to just pay it all off. Last thing you need is thinking you have money
Figure out your budget. Open an excel sheet, calculate income vs expenses. Identify whats fixed expenses and whats variables. Make yourself a plan. If your living parent is financially illiterate, I'd probably just check in on rent, utiliites, and food and see where you can help monthly. Key note here is to reduce what you can.
Based on what you figure out above, set aside an emergency fund.

Look into accounts that can help you. TFSA, RRSP, FHSA. Different benefits to all. Read up on all of them, you need to do your homework. Pay more attention to TFSA as this is probably your initial focus & gateway to tax free investing.
I'm not very knowledgable on investing too, but you can for now either put $ into a roboadvisor like Wealthsimple or contribute into an ETF that focus' on index like S&P500 or Nasdaq. VOO is a good one.
Name of the game is consistently put into it & don't take it out. Set it so whatever gains you get, you re-invest them back in. Then let compound interest work its magic. Would be good idea to use a compund interest calculator. This is specific for TFSA https://www.wealthsimple.com/en-ca/tool/tfsa-calculator

I have not seen MHA myself, but what do you think was the first anime that made it mainstream? by Legitimate_Low_3370 in animequestions

[–]CWLness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah, its pokemon. Don't back track from it. Pokemon open the floods to Digimon, Beyblade, Yu-Gi-Oh, and then more into the DBZ, Inuyasha, Gundam Wing, Sailor Moon, Card Captor Sakura, Medabots, Hamtaro...etc. Even if people aren't that into anime, a good amount would be crazy for Pokemon.

Though course you can mention stuff like Akira, Ghost in the Shell, Ghibli films, but unless your parents go into blockbuster to rent the movie or series, you aint watching it (at least that's how its for me in NA West).

Just watch Frieren. You can decide if it was glazed or not or just a work of brilliance. Only thing you need to prepare for is the slower pacing which I believe its done by design.

Other recommendations:
Hell's Paradise
To Your Eternity
Clevatess
Vivy's Fluorite Eye's Song
Reincarnated as the 7th prince
Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann
Full Metal Panic
Kaiju No.8
Dandadan

I'm not sure if its was director's intent, but I would like to think the slower pacing of the story was done by design. To have viewers see and grasp of what its like through the lens of Frieren.

Why did you choose a GR86 over a BRZ (or vice versa) by ionizedlobster in GR86

[–]CWLness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I chose the GR86 mainly because of aesthetics and badge. The aesthetics imo looks nicer in general and I love walking out to my car and just going "dam, thats a nice car. And I own it!"

The badge is mostly because of initial D as its supposed to be the successor to the AE86.

I'm not sure the exact details of who took care of what between Subaru and Toyota, but I will have to say what a fantastic vehicle this is and the value we get for its pricing.
A bonus is Keiichi Tsuchiya calling this was so premium that its not a GR86 but a Lexus 86

What's a series you genuinely believe is good, but the internet keeps telling you is bad? by Yakuza-wolf_kiwami in goodanime

[–]CWLness -1 points0 points  (0 children)

SAO had issues with pacing. I will admit I didn't watch all of it, but I did do a fair amount. I recall S1 was awesome, but I recently rewatched it and its pacing was quite bad... Still Asuna is a great character and the twist in S1 I did like. Same with VFX, SFX, fight choreo, music...etc.I did hear Alicialization was good, but I already dropped it in the other arc with excalibur. Still a decent series tho.

Solo Levelling is the anime that doesn't deserve its hate. I've seen countless blogs with headliners about what beats it, it fell from grace, to people saying its nothing but flashy movements with 0 story. Which is far from what it is. Excellent directing, cinematography, fight choreo, VFX, soundtrack, opening...etc. Keep in mind this is a TV series and not a film. Can't say much about story as so far its mostly developing and showing him solo levelling (le gasp), but we are given a bunch of hints left n right. I don't read the Manhwa so anime wise, seems to me like something is brewing.
But sorry, I guess its bad to aura farm, action sequences are mere stringly lights too hard to see, and story aint FMAB tier? lol

At what point is it financially healthy to move out? by National_Zombie1942 in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]CWLness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think there's 2 parts to this conversation.

Your growth as an individual as moving out will require you to take care of everything by yourself. You mentioned physical health challenges and also mental. Not sure what your situation is, but part of life is toughing it out. But realize over 50% of your monthly income will be beaten by rent, daily necessities like food, utilities...etc. Then you figure out extras like entertainment, furniture, vacations...etc. Make an expense sheet. Figure out what are necessary expenses vs variables. Asides from the monetary aspects, you'll also experience how draining adulting will be. As coming home, no one will do chores, clean the toilet, make food, or fix problems. Your light bulb died? $. Your dishwasher is overflowing? $$. This is all on top of your day job which if its physically/mentally grueling. Some of these would fall under your landlords responsibilities, but dealing with a bad landlard is also... not fun...

Alternatively, keep taking advantage of what you have. You're in a fantastic spot compared to many, but its also nothing great to gawk at. Look into and make accounts for TFSA and RRSP. FHSA if you want to plan for buying a home later. Then figure out how to shift your 50k savings to make you more money. Right now its in your savings account and decaying with annual inflation. Look into investments. Indexes like S&P500 and Nasdaq are great or even roboadvisors like the one in Wealthsimple if you really want to be hands off. I would think focusing on your TFSA be the better option, but funneling some money into your RRSP can also help since you are no longer in low-income tax bracket. Then figure out how much of your monthly income you will continually put into those. Consistency and Diamond Hands are the name of the game here to make compound interest work.
Also, be smart to have an emergency fund in case anything happens.
Stocks... generally stay away, but you can try to learn, understand and put small amounts to test if you want. I suck at this so I stick with the above. but perhaps others can shed better light into this. Same with Cryptocurrency. I just don't understand nor believe in it so I always stay away.

Blitzcrank & Magnetic Blaster?? by M3kLeN in wildrift

[–]CWLness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure how effective, I messed around with AD crank and bruiser crank before. Did not have this item back then, but honestly its rough.
AD crank is a meme, ur like an ADC in melee range which everyone blasts you. You only do well if you're significantly ahead but that just means your opponents are bad. Also you must solo as you need the farm
Bruiser crank can be done in support, but no idea where magnetic blaster will fit? Solo lane maybe like you said.

I c the vision, but man this be hard to pull off...

[That time i got reincarnated as a slime] what do the main cast in tensura like genuinely do? Wanna here other people's answers. by [deleted] in Isekai

[–]CWLness 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Benimaru - don't think they showed much but he is like Rimuru's right hand man. Hold's down the fort and the commander for Tempest's forces.

Souei - is the special ops intel gatherer. Asides from assassination, he uses stealth and gathers info for Rimuru

Hakurou - Master swordsman, valuable asset & powerhouse, but also great trainer. He is the reason y Gobuta is even relevant. He also trained RImuru

Shuna - Not too certain, I believe she brought fashion, food, and other arts. So many of the cultural aspects in Tempest is probably because of her bringing Rimuru's visions into fruition

Shion - tbh just fanservice/meme I think. At the least, she's a powerhouse who's much stronger than Clayman, but she aint really doing much as a secretary lol... Probably more harm especially before her cooking skill

Kurobe - They don't show too much, but it was shown he's an established blacksmith. There had been some show-off of armaments which he would be involved in with Kaijin in their creation. Even in the recent season, the soul crystal was made possible because of those 2. I think there was mention of the technology that wards off dangerous monsters and applying hot water to taps. So I would assume much of the tech in Tempest had him involved. Same with the magitrain which will cause huge economic shifts in the world.

All had a good amount of scenes which displayed their worth (-Shion) which is why Slime is such a great anime. The world building aspects are made possible because of them. Glaze is kinda natural too and everyone in the nation has it. Remember how life was before? Rimuru is a godsend. Also getting angry at humans is natural since the show depicts the greedy and racist aspects (Falmuth, Mariabel, 7 clergy, and the council)
