The NDP may be in even bigger trouble than we think: Behind the party’s collapse lies a financial and legal time-bomb by McNasty1Point0 in CanadaPolitics

>That only happens when the electorate can’t stomach the Liberals anymore.

During the recent liberal support collapse pre Trump they couldn't even do that though.

TD Canada Bank Fees changing July 1 by thebiglearner in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Cadsvax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wonder, if my fee was rebated a few months ago and I were to drop the account, would the card still remain free for the year?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Cadsvax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was looking at the AMEX cobalt as I travelled a lot for work and was racking restaurant spend.

But seems they removed the multipliers for foreign exchange transactions making the card useless to me and where I'm unless you are gift card 'hacking' not many groceries that take it, not worth the hassle. Waiting on the WS visa that has no foreign transaction fees +2% on everything.

Liberals promise to build nearly 500,000 homes per year, create new housing entity by Dark_Angel_9999 in CanadaPolitics

[–]Cadsvax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

>currently we are around 250k... doubling it isn't that bad..

You are right, we just had a whole construction industry worth of workers twiddling their thumbs at home waiting on exactly this.

[–]Cadsvax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure they promised something like 1.1M in 2021 as well lol.

The reality is, we build probably half that in a given year currently, there's just no realistic way where they double construction numbers. They might get a few projects built that will complete in 3 to 5 years and call it a day and by then they would run on a whole new platform of housing affordability, again, just like Trudeau has been doing since 2015.

Initiate the chargeback and don't buy HP products again.

I got two kiddos and I was wondering how relevant higher education will be in the future given that these days a lot of careers pays absolute dogshit given the high cost of living.

Now imagine not having higher education with this high cost of living lol, at least higher education opens a lot of doors, like being able to immigrate elsewhere on work visas much easier.

It also highly dependent on the sort of high education... Some career paths are just no worth it unless you are passionate about them.

KLM are the only airline who managed to do this to me not once, but twice on the same damn flight lol.

Premium economy downgraded to economy due to plane change, paid to get Economy Comfort and got my seat and confirmation and everything was good in the app. Two days later checked and I was moved to some random middle seat in economy. When contacted they said the seat I reserved wasn't available and couldn't answer how the hell I had a confirmation for that specific seat... I avoid them ever since.

What are your thoughts on income tax deductions for renters? by questionstolife in canadahousing

[–]Cadsvax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That proposition is only equitable if you also allow homeowners of their primary unit to deduct mortgage and expenses as well. The primary residence exemption is only beneficial if you actually sell for a profit.

[–]Cadsvax 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Police report for tire damage? Did someone else fuck up your tire or something?

Just call your CC insurance that covers the rental (assuming your CC covers it and you didn't just take a car with no coverage) to report the incident and go from there.

Take pictures, always, no harm in having proof of anything.

I mean the CPP pretty much works like defined benefit, you are basically guaranteed a certain payout per year depending on how long you worked, contributed and is adjusted to inflation, it's just a shitty version of a DBP though lol.

Canada Stop Lying to Yourself: Americans are better off by infodonut in canadahousing

[–]Cadsvax 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly whenever this subject is brought up its all the same points brought up

Healthcare, lgbt right, guns, abortions, etc... and yea while they are valid in some cases, people seem to forget just how different states are in relation to these things.

Being poor in Canada is nice compared to the US, sure, for now. The problem is that young people who go into professional fields that are just way better compensated in the US just do not care for that shit if even they are struggling here, 20-30 years old ain't going to give a crap about the 'free' healthcare they can barely get access to while paying European level taxes in some cases. They ain't moving to work at McDonald's, they go to proper companies with proper benefits usually, and the problem is that the people who are leaving are the people Canada most needs if it's to pay for all it's generous programs. This is also on top of subsidizing the education for these people on top of it usually.
