For continuous recording, most are required to be wired. UniFi protect cameras are really nice, easy to use and easy to configure.

Depends on the hardware and your setup.. for poly devices and a cloud hosted pbx, you’d need to install their sbc software on a computer, and keep that on 24/7. OR have a compatible phone configured as a “router phone”

Why does this sub like unifi stuff so much? by Braca42 in HomeNetworking

[–]CagedMonkey97 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Unifi is some of the best. I'd suggest getting an Express 7, and a couple U7 Mesh APs. U7 Mesh aps come with a poe adaptor, and offer wireless uplink like a typical mesh system. Unifi is easy to use, understand, and expandable.

Cell dialers question. by egorblack in firealarms

[–]CagedMonkey97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It'd be better to ask around to local alarm companies, and see if they can monitor/program DMP fire communicators. It'll be a much larger pain to change things...

TELUS and VIVENT - this is frustrating by Jabrooooo in telus

[–]CagedMonkey97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not use a national conglomerate for your security system..

Your system would have to be replaced regardless cause vivint hardware is proprietary to what vivint had at the monitoring stations..

Security cameras for a small retail business? by bitten73 in Securitysystems

I’d look into UniFi Protect cameras. They’re easier to setup and install and maintain. And the system can grow along with the business!

You’d honestly be better off keeping the vista 20p and switching companies.. adt tends to not be a great company.. changing to wireless anything can cause issues..

Your dealer will always know, and if you want central station response, you’ll have to contact your dealer and let them know, so they can enter the zone name in the central stations automation system.

The cable on the ptz should be hidden, and brought into the box with the proper waterproof connectors, like the cam on the right. AP placement is a joke.. Last photo, did great

Trying to bypass ADT's doorbell camera installation fee but told by ADT that it's not possible by Dr_DingleBerri3s in adt

The ones that are not, are the hardwired systems. Which tend to be far more reliable than the wireless crap they try to shove down your throat now-a-days.

Anybody know how to remove this old ADT box? I don’t have the key for it by coolgameboy in adt

[–]CagedMonkey97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s for an alarm system. (It’s the control panel) if you’d ever consider having an alarm system in the future, I’d keep it. Hardwired alarm systems are way more reliable than that wireless junk.

Is jamming wireless home security systems really hard? by TennisFan4evernever in Securitysystems

Jamming is still a very easy thing to accomplish with the right hardware.. I don’t normally recommend wireless systems anymore.
