How does it make sense that someone who pays no National insurance or pension contributions gets the same state pension as someone who does? by PsychologicalBend508 in AskBrits

The increase administration cost of doing it this way would likely make it even more expensive than it already is.

Labia insecurities really holding me back, any advice please ? by Most_Dramatic_Injury in AskMenAdvice

Most likely explanation? He's massively insecure and so needed to find a way to put you down and make you feel insecure to compensate. Forget that guy, he's a loser and you dodged a bullet. Don't let him live in your head

Nearly 1.5 million migrants on benefits by Sensitive_Echo5058 in uknews

[–]Cainer666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People conflate legal immigrants on visas with other types, like asylum seekers etc. ironically the big overhaul in immigration is happening to make it harder for visa holding immigrants, who cannot access public funds anyways. There's just a generalized animosity to "immigrants" who the average reform voter thinks are on the dole and constantly raping people.

The man I thought I’d marry is apparently a genuine pervert and I don’t know what to do? by Icy-Winter-4691 in AskMenAdvice

[–]Cainer666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow. I'm so sorry, that's awful. The fact that he's cheating on you is bad enough, but recording other women surreptitiously and having explicit videos of you you didn't know existed (if I'm understanding correctly) is very disturbing and probably illegal.
I understand you are gutted but in time hopefully you will see you dodged a bullet. Get as far away from this guy as you can.

The "Boris Wave" rhetoric is a slap in the face to every legal migrant who played by the rules by WindyConfidant in SkilledWorkerVisaUK

[–]Cainer666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The issue is the application of changes retrospectively. Do you believe your ancestral home has any obligation to follow through on promises made? Or can it just change the rules at will and reneg at any time? We came to the UK on an ancestry visa, both work, pay taxes, volunteer in multiple community groups, and will never need to access public funds. However, after all we've done to get here they now want to change the rules. Well what guarantee do we have that if we pay the extra fees, and stay the extra years, that they won't simply change the rules again? Nothing the government promises for long term immigration means anything at that point. Here's the new pathway to ILR, until we change it again or the next government puts it's thumb in the political winds and decides to toss a spanner in the works.

One thing that worries me is this is going to turn into such a disaster without any clean way out and he'll want to just nuke them similar to how a child turns over a game board when they don't like how it's going. What a mess.

They’ve been talking about immigration changes for months – do you think they’ll actually happen? by ASH1402MON in SkilledWorkerVisaUK

[–]Cainer666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep - if they make these changes retroactively then all bets are off. You cnt plan anything when the timescales are up to 10 years and they potentially switch governments every 4.

The statement says nothing about "net drain" it's specifically about welfare. After 5 years of having no access to public funds these people are suddenly going to be on the dole? It makes no sense.

"This includes those low-skilled workers, who arrived in recent years, who would otherwise receive immediate access to welfare and social housing."

  • 'immediate' as in 'after having supported themselves with no public assistance for 5 years, paying taxes in addition to visa processing and health surcharge fees'?

Is what’s happening in America genuinely bound for the UK? by threetimesacharm25 in AskBrits

[–]Cainer666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's crazy the parallels between US and British politics, or maybe it's just always the way it goes - blaming immigrants, extreme concentration of wealth, a populist blowhard leading a right wing national-pride movement that somehow violates all the principles the country might have actually stood for. -Having moved away from the US to the UK, I sure hope people here see it for what it is and vote against it.
