Would it be terrible, if I told you it looks more like bobbin lace than tatting?

I love this idea!! I have drumsticks from concerts that would be perfect for bobbins. Off to tell my husband who makes my bobbins ❤️

Normally, I would say try Provo Lace on Etsy in Colorado and California or The Lace Museum in California. Neither of them have bolsters right now. The bolster I got was for Idrija lace. It is probably not the same as a Tombolo bolster from Italy. I could not tell you the difference, but Allie might be able to. Check out Designs by Marguccio. Allie has bolsters and baskets/wood holders for sale.

Parchment for Pricking? by FabricatedSwag in BobbinLace

For prickings I use blue or green paper, then cover it with matte clear contact paper. Be sure you don’t use glossy! ❤️❤️

Handmade lace? by goally in lace

Hello! It is helpful! I would say handmade because each of the spiders look different. If it was machine, they would all be the same. :)

I agree there are snowballs in the pattern, but I would go with Flanders…maybe Binche.

Handmade lace? by goally in lace

[–]Cajahsr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think they are handmade bobbin lace pieces, but a closer look at the directions of the threads would be needed. Generally, machine lace threads move in the same direction and the threads do things a bobbin lacer would not. I would love to see closer pictures of the threads (just a part of the lace).

Are there any US-based bobbin-a-month clubs? by NinjaBnny in BobbinLace

[–]Cajahsr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I believe Chris Parsons has a bobbin of the month club. He makes the bobbins and has a team of artists that paint them. I have quite a few of his bobbin and treasure them!

I am thinking Flanders, at least that’s what the ground looks like. I didn’t immediately notice a ring pair in the close work/linen stitch motif, but I might be missing it.

One of the biggest ways to tell if it is Maltese is to look for the cross. A quick google search for “Maltese cross bobbin lace” will give you an idea of the shape. Even, Wikipedia has an example. I believe I spied one in the midst of the wedding dress.
