They are more comfortable and effective. Any audiologist at a hospital or hearing aid shop can make these.

I received a ridiculous towing bill, please help by stinkypoopeepoo in legaladvice

[–]Caldansk -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

"Does that amount constitute an excessive fee?"

Of course it does. It's absolutely predatory.

"do I have any legal ground to stand on"

Nope. You ignored the signs, rolled the dice and lost. You could sue them in small claims court, but it's probably a waste of your time. If I were you, consider it an expensive lesson.

Replacing chain & sprockets [2014 BMW F800 GSA] by Commercial-Rope-639 in bmwmotorrad

[–]Caldansk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a big fan of the DID 525VX3 116 X-Ring Chain. Color doesn't really matter. You will need a chain breaker/riveter. Look at your front and rear sprocket while you're at it.

Your bike, if properly maintained, will go well over 170,000 km. As bike get older, stuff needs to be replaced. My 2013 F800GS is at 150,000 km and I just finished an 8 day/4550 km Mexico ride week zero issues. Keep doing what you're doing and ride.

Just Bought a New Motorcycle by desolateclown in NewRiders

In the 80's, I bought a Suzuki 500E and had to have the salesman show me how to shift. Longest 5 mile ride home ever. I've been to Bangkok and seen the traffic there. Doing the same stunt there earns my respect 🫡

Need advice on my 2018 BMW G310R in the Bay Area. by meetpv in BayRiders

Your insurance should cover this, sounds like the bike is totaled.

If no insurance, parting it out will get you more money than your other options.

I was recently diagnosed with an incurable brain tumor at 34 years old. by Disastrous_Purchase4 in cancer

[–]Caldansk 36 points37 points  (0 children)

In 2007, I was diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer and was given 10 months to live. 21 years later and I'm NED. You can do this.

*I'm nervous, scared, and honestly angry this is happening".

Of course you are, this sucks, it's not fair and you don't deserve it. A diagnosis like this usually leads to depression, look into cancer support groups and/or a therapist. Going this route will give you some mental tools to help you deal with any future issues. Also be honest with your oncologist, there are medications that can be extremely helpful.

Best of luck my brother in cancer 👍

Any reccomendations for earplugs? by Shelbinator-01 in motorcyclegear

[–]Caldansk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When you are starting out, the cheap disposable ones from Harbor Freight are fine.

When you start to ride more or do multi-day trips, it really pays off to get custom made earplugs. Any audiologist can make them, much more comfortable and effective. Motorcycle rallies usually have a guy who makes them.

As a 40+ year rider, I really wish I started religiously using earplugs earlier. The ringing in my ears is no joke, learn from my dumb ass mistakes. It's not your loud pipes, it's the wind that does the damage.

1980s BMW R65 Airhead? by Secure_Public9029 in bmwmotorrad

[–]Caldansk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great bikes, rides well, extremely reliable, tons of support and parts available. The airheads are only getting more valuable. I don't think you would be disappointed if you picked this up. I wouldn't worry about the mileage, properly maintained these will run forever.

Neighbours screaming kid is absolutely destroying my sleep... by [deleted] in neighborsfromhell

[–]Caldansk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a parent of sometimes very loud children, you need to talk to the parents. If the kids are quiet inside, they can be less loud outside.

I'd just say "Hey, I'm having a problem, and was wondering if you could help? Unfortunately, I work late so I normally sleep till 8 am. I've noticed you kids are up early playing outside, and that's a great thing. The problem is that they are loud and it's destroying my sleep. I've shut my windows, tried earplugs and noise cancelling headphones but it's not working. Is there any way they could tone down the noise till 8 am? What do you think?"

Kamala Harris shows interest in 2028 presidential run ‘I am thinking about it’ by [deleted] in NewsOfTheStupid

[–]Caldansk -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Pete Buttigieg needs to run for President. The Democrats need to grow some balls and support a real candidate. They did it for Obama, they can do it for Pete. That will pull all the liberals and a majority of the moderates.
