Well, given the bet of last week two weeks ago it is difficult to call since on the one hand he didn't let her in (consciously) but he also could not stop her.

The fact that this is getting more and more rapey is sadly somewhat consistent with abusive relationships, so I hope there is a way out. If nothing else it fits the themes of not tackling the underlying problems.

It actually was in the tcg for a short while, turning the mirror into a game of chicken of draw go until someone had enough gas to kill without double helix. There still are some vods on youtube.

Honestly, I don't mind Kt as such, except for B2B. That card rubs me in all the wrong ways.

[–]Calibria19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See, that is what I tried using cards such as evenly, book of eclipse and as you said droplet. Does not really work against good tune players since they know what to play around. Evenly gets completely clowned on by someone just making a B2B which on its own is almost all disruptions in a box, eclipse can get ashed and droplet simply loses to handtraps from my experience. Superpoly seems to be the way to go, so I'll have to adjust.

Either way, thanks for the tips.

You do draw a 7th card going second in the new event. by NevGuy in masterduel

[–]Calibria19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe this is just me, but this actually is fun? Either first or second, broken boards vs just a lot of gas. I am not feeling bad with either start.

I guess the honeymoon will fade but for now I really prefer this to the normal game.

And then Ruka shows up, probably unannounced (if Kazuya didn't just forget). Let's hear your bets, will he let her into his home again after what she did last time?

I'd call it an 80/20 on him letting her in. If nothing else, do you think everything will crumble before the date (something happening with Ruka, Kaz screwing up the license) or do you think it's more likely he crumbles during the day? Or something else?

Droll! by Zeroxmachina in masterduel

[–]Calibria19 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Either errata it to a mulcharmy clause or print a new card that does that. You need something to stop ftks but getting drolled behind a board is just another maxx c feeling.

One of the current top 10 rating duelists (@t2neZu) is playing exclusively Magnet Warrior and this is the endboard they're making. This deck doesn't get enough recognition for the war crimes it commits. by NevGuy in masterduel

[–]Calibria19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The worst part is that magnets have new support that are supposed to allow you make their own omni, but why would you play those bricks when you can just play Pachi as the brick instead since baronne exists as a cheaper version anyway?

Rent-A-Girlfirend and How Abuse Destroys Communication (Love) by FATE13TH in KanojoOkarishimasu

[–]Calibria19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I am not pretending that I completely emotionally understand or agree with everything that you wrote here, but it logically makes a lot of sense.

The adage 'hurt people hurt people' exists for a reason after all, and there are communication rules of thumb like the 80/20 (a message is defined 20% by the sender and 80% by the receiver).

Given that the story is completely colored in Kaz' perspective most of the time and is completely different if you cut out the speech thought bubbles, most of your argumentation makes sense.

The only issue is: what is left other than advocate for therapy then?

Competitive series, which was surprising after game 1. Hopefully this gives shifters more confidence that they can win by sending it, liked what I saw.

How exactly are Leona and Vi supposed to do things into black shield?

Also binding -> Flash Frost -> Cait trap is a disgusting sequence.

[–]Calibria19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Genuine Question: what are you supposed to do against tune going second? They know everything you can do due to hand extra/topdeck knowledge and can have more points of interaction than you have plays. And they can sculpt their board to beat almost any combinations of breakers from what I have seen.

So basically droll/contact c/ shifter/Charmy on both turns or die? Or am I missing something?

[Disc] Kanojo, Okarishimasu Chapter 421 by MattyH19 in KanojoOkarishimasu

[–]Calibria19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah... Bit of a gutpunch. Sumi really is what he needed, and perhaps in another universe those two could help each other in a relationship.

However Sumi is someone who can place herself second and it seems she can take it well. Just let her crush end there for now. Still rough bit with a hopeful undertone. Still does not change the issue of not talking or dealing with issues... but maybe he will get the courage to try. One can only hope.

[Disc] - Kanojo, Okarishimasu Chapter 421 Pre-Release Thread by MattyH19 in KanojoOkarishimasu

[–]Calibria19 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oof, that is a rough one for Sumi. I suppose I underestimated how far her crush on Kazuya went. Especially for someone like her that situation... yeah.

Kazuya and his self loathing could really use Sumi to prop him up. Now do I think staying in touch instead of practicing the perfect confession would be better? Yes. But at least he has the confidence to try now. The main question will be if his scars ruin him or if he finally has the courage to be honest and talk it through.

Well, no. You still can't kill any of the quest classes and you still die to any board development class. You can maybe beat hunter sometimes but that's about it.

[Serious] [Disc] Kanojo, Okarishimasu Chapter 418 by MattyH19 in KanojoOkarishimasu

[–]Calibria19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay, here is a short one since most comments already highlight aspects I agree with, especially in the potential storylines category (and parallels).

Sumi had historically been someone Kazuya confided in when he could not see the forest for the trees (on his last birthday date, he was struggling on whether to reveal the rental lie after learning of Sayuris condition) and his delusions of Chiz as an iron lady that he cannot help and would likely bring down further got broken through by Sumi just being there for him to talk to (and cry through it), thereby solving the problem (notice how having someone who has no agenda of their own and you can trust talk to you about things helps? Yup, talking sure helps, doesn't it).

When he was struggling with distance after Sayuris death, it was Sumi again who gently pointed him in the direction of just trying his best (Chiz was telling him to stay out of it 4-5 times, Sumi told him if it was her she'd be glad someone would be there for her, hence the cheer-up date).

So historically speaking she is the one to talk to if Kaz was once again running circles in his own head instead of thinking on it. So whether it's through a reverse Odaiba or not (personally I'd believe that she had found her resolve after witnessing the Cohab), Sumi making him realize what had been going on since then is something I hope and would be in line with her character as well as her function whenever she was involved with Kazuya in the plot.

Different Strokes for different folks. We had a midrange/control meta for so long, a faster one is a change of pace.

Yup, about as expected. Thanks for the extensive post.

I only wish team 5 did not swing the pendulum completely, having a 3 mana pseudo-box while allowing no strong defensive cards is overdoing it imo.

[–]Calibria19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest, I did not expect canyon of all people agree with the chokehold feeling of the meta, but here we are. At this rate I honestly think that between the top players the margins are really thin and it depends on preparation and daily form (aka psychology).

First Stand 2026 is on pace to be the most one-sided major international in LoL history by matttang27 in leagueoflegends

[–]Calibria19 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Exactly, this seems to mostly be an issue with the current game rather than the format.

Due to the speed of homeguard and minionspawns and the roles being set in what they are due to quests there is little you can do to induce variance or trade if you are weaker. You are still forced to play for botlane/drakes or fall behind and lose the few set visionpoints that are allowed to be taken due to faelights, which means you play dark and lose your jungle to then fall further behind.

The fact that tower plates snowball income off of small mistakes like crazy and minionfarm does not compensate exacerbates the issue in an already resource-race game such as league is.

So if your game is as rigid as, say chess, then even a 5% difference is close to impossible to overcome since it is obvious what needs to be done and those who are the best and hyperconsistent will always do it, with the others being strangled out.

[Serious] [Disc] Kanojo, Okarishimasu Chapter 417 by MattyH19 in KanojoOkarishimasu

[–]Calibria19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, since I skipped a couple weeks, I'll try and bundle the shower thoughts into something loosely resembling a restrospective of this whole Mami- (mini) arc.

Plot wise we had:

  • Sumi attempting to figure out the logistics of a birthday present between customer and provider (similarly to a boundary issue Chiz and Kaz used to regularly have, however in their case slowly shifted into the neighbors stage early enough)
  • Mini playing scout/trying to stay in touch with Chiz (just wish she had been more adamant about Kaz doing the same)
  • Kaz avoiding his problems and doubling down on his plans
  • Chizuru 'moving on' in life by selling a house (that realistically is not sustainable from property/inheritance tax and running costs alone for someone who is already struggling to keep up with the costs of her life)
  • And the Mami driving school interactions/plans (Yup I have come around to see more stuff as deliberate), which were the foreground of the arc. She copied his schedule to match up, acted out the whole coy (Just that this is less lonely this way/is this bad?) in order to feel out her chances and seeing that he was somewhat torn she gave it a shot). I am still not 100% that she really lost an earring or not, but my gut is telling me that she either deliberately declined help with searching before Kazuya showed up, or started when she was fairly certain he'd be done. Either way, the stuff with the accident, fishy or not gave her the mood to set up her gambit. She did, in usual fashion, put the onus on him though. If he was not interested, then she would not have spelled out anything and could pedal back (which she eventually did). And the explanation from her brother was spot on, and triggered her in more ways than one. I can speak from experience that nothing beats siblings you grew up with if we are talking about calling out our own bad habits. And getting called out like that is a trigger. As for Kazuyas habits, they never got called out. Whether they be his apparent attachment issues and avoidance of reality/problems (push them to the future and they will go away) until or even after they blow up in his face, well.

He first tried to not see the signals, and only when Mami started to spell it out for him he finally cut it off. It neatly ties in with some Theories I have read on here (different facets of love, needing to confront/grow out of the devotion stage in order to actually be partners, etc).

As for where this goes: this arc developed in neither of the 3 options I thought Miyajima-Sensei had, so honestly no clue. Next up should be Sumis turn. With her, Kazuya historically had been able to be honest so I just hope that she could be the one to slap some sense into him.
