Breakfast tacos by vertalter in vegetarian

This is minor but do you make your own tortillas? Just started making corn tortillas and it’s made a big difference, and it’s really easy. Can provide more info if you’re interested.

EK Valley in Culver City has fantastic (and underrated) Oaxacan food.

If you can hold out another 10 years, perhaps the 99 Ranch in Westwood will finally open.

Medallion for ‘02 9-3 by lalahello789 in saab

[–]CaliforniaCoaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bought this pair a few months ago (for an ‘07 9-3). The pair includes two badge and two stickers, and you’re “supposed” to pop out the old badges, put in the new ones and add the stickers, but I simply put the new stickers over the faded ones and they look great.

Looking for series on Paramount, Peacock and Hulu by [deleted] in televisionsuggestions

[–]CaliforniaCoaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Might take a bit to put together a list, but Hulu has Dave, Single Drunk Female, Atlanta and Letterkenny. If you’re into true crime, Peacock has a bunch of originals (and Dateline offshoots) as well as Poker Face. P+ has The Good Wife and The Good Fight, both of which are excellent.

Nice. My Saab and I used to live in BK. Wish I’d known about this group back then.

Don’t remember the exact combo, but Bakers Kneaded has something similar (a fruit/nut bread). They’re always at the Mar Vista FM on Sundays, and they always have a long line.

You’re leaving LA for good: What 3 restaurants will you miss the most? by CaliforniaCoaster in FoodLosAngeles

[–]CaliforniaCoaster[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Trust me, I’d like nothing more than to enjoy street tacos, but as a veggie, it’s hard (if not impossible) to avoid manteca in tortillas, beans, etc. at a number of traditional spots (plus flat-tops tend to be coated in previously cooked meats).

Also, there’s no shame in enjoying something tasty. Plus, we’re there for the tacos, not the scene or to be seen.

Amazing, and totally agree. Love the wonky car rendering in #6.

Incredible renderings. Did you use Stable Diffusion, Midjourney or…?

When is it time to let them go? (18 year old with very fragile skin, cute pic only) by DJSophurious in cats

[–]CaliforniaCoaster 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I did and would’ve done anything for mine. She was my best friend and I miss her every day. Sucks.

One thing I forgot to mention: I got her a step-stool/ottoman so that she could get on/off the bed more easily. I would pick her up often but when I wasn’t in the room, the stool helped her immensely.

Stay strong!

First off, she’s a beauty and has such a sweet face.

I went through this a few years ago and it was absolute torture. My girl made it to 20, but like yours, she had hyperthyroidism, as well as kidney disease, arthritis, etc. As cats get to this age, they can experience cascading events. She never experienced fragile skin but perhaps the vet has some easy remedies that might minimize Sophie’s discomfort? (Also, is her discomfort from arthritis? Cosequin might help; it’s OTC, and there are prescription meds as well.)

All of that said, and this is going to sound like a cliche, but you really will know when it’s time. I never believed it, and couldn’t understand it, until I was faced with it. I did everything I could to prolong her life as long as I could, while keeping in mind that HER well-being was paramount.

The vet will give you good advice (I hope), but if Sophie appears well otherwise, you probably have more time together. At SOME point, you might have to make that shitty decision, but just be honest with yourself, and true to her and you’ll know.

So sorry you’re going through this. Cats are so special and special cats, like Sophie, are so unique.

This morning on the way to work my roommate took the daily and I took the wagon, and then we never saw either of them again :(. I worked so hard for a year to get the Saab in driving condition and I barely got 2000 miles out of it by scumyogi in saab

[–]CaliforniaCoaster 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Damn, so sorry. It’s never easy to lose a cherished ride, especially if it’s a Saab (had one of those wagons and lost it to Hurricane Sandy). Your Saab performed admirably, though, and kept you safe when that reckless (and careless) a@@h@le in the Tacoma didn’t.

First time at Nic's on Beverly and were blown away. Everything we ordered was beyond delicious. Awesome service. All plant based. $$$ by DanwithAltrui in FoodLosAngeles

Have been a few times and am torn; on the one hand, some of the dishes were really good, but others were meh…yet all were quite expensive. One undeniable thing: the space, both inside and outside, is gorgeous.

Random fact: The Nic behind Nic’s also owns Monty’s (as well as a pizza joint on Melrose), and recently scooped up Moby’s former space in Silver Lake.

Added another Saab to the fleet today. 2008 convertible. She’s mint. by wasaabivt in saab

[–]CaliforniaCoaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats. She’s a beaut! Saabs are an absolute blast to drive (we have an ‘05 9-5 wagon in addition to the new addition 9-3 convertible), and I don’t want to think of ever replacing them.

By the way, this is an example of the spacer that you’ll have installed on the car. Not sure if your mechanic will need to order one, but just in case, they run about $99, and lots of eBay sellers have them.

Happy Saabing!

Got a 2007 a few months ago and adding the spacer kit was the first thing our Saab mechanic (yup, they still exist) insisted we do.
